I give up then if we didn't use the "safe" area last season. Changing the subject it could be only OC who starts on Saturday from last season's starting 11.

The new SW stand certainly does not have a hard roof and remains a tent

So what happened to the two (?) metal roof stands, especially the one over the away terrace, which would have improved things a bit for visitors?
I thought it was down to supplier delays from France.
Why are they not being put up now?

Providing seating for away fans is a league requirement. A stand in the away end would also free up the entire south stand for home fans and negate the need for segregation. Not sure why we replaced the SW stand for an almost identical model when it doesn't seem to give us much additional benefit.

Why are they not being put up now? There was no mention of the away stand in the last update so I think it's been ditched. I agree we should at least stick a roof over the away end, even just to create some type of atmosphere!

I agree but at the moment any kind of noise from the away end will completely drown out the North terrace.

I think we should increase the capacity of the away supporters. It's not only Portsmouth and Plymouth that bring a lot. Walsall always have a healthy size crowd, and of course Sunderland, Coventry, Barnsley, Luton, Wycombe, Charlton, Bradford and Oxford will all bring over a thousand. If you could increase it by 500 at £20 (£10,000) surely its worth doing? Especially as I think our own support has started to drop. And yes in the 21st century, everyone should have a cover. Having said that in 4&1/2 months we are going to have some mind blowing news so why bother

As Hugo has said replacing the Guinness stand with a virtually identical tent seems to be pointless. It can’t offer anything more than maybe two extra rows of seats at a push.
I was under the impression before the season that a perminant stand would replace the SW one, a stand would be built above the away standing, and a stand would be built between the Blackthorn and Uplands. I’m certain the club provided blueprints showing this.
These new stands getting ditched is either a really good sign (Stadium on the horizon) or bad news (Dwane sports don’t want to spend anymore £ on developing the Mem before they sell up).
Only time will tell.
Some communication from the club would be nice.

Wael and Tom Gorringe have been consistent in saying that the improvements conducted during the closed season, including the South West and North East Stands are temporary and not the full refurbishment. So your impression of a permanent SW stand is misplaced. I'm at the opposite end of the ground, but it does look slightly more substantial than the one it replaced.
The stand between the "Blackthorn and Uplands" is going up now and should be in place for Saturday.
As others have said, the only proposed stand development that doesn't appear to be happening is the additional away seating.

Some people were led to believe the temporary structures would be more 'rigid'.
Maybe there were other issues with the SW stand. The South Stand had to be refurbished the other season, so a replacement was deemed better value
The Family stand is supposed to be going in this week unless something else has happened.
Not sure what the issue is/was with the proposed area at the away terracing
