PS, I'd like to add I knew/know 79, and in all fairness he is a decent Gashead. I think his red kit fixation was purely a wind up' and tbh it did wind a few up.

Bristol Energy choose their words carefully. They have always spoken about 'involvement' with Rovers and have studiously avoided any direct reference to sponsorship. Not surprising really; with £8.4 million losses and Bristol Council ditching them in favour of British Gas whose terms are more favourable! Well today they haven't avoided it. They have confirmed on their own website that they are sponsoring us (our shorts).

The quakers will be opposition defenders once Tommy Nichols get his dander up.

The new season really, really, really cannot come soon enough... You might regret saying that when we are slagging all the players off as not good enough after the first game. That's what usually happens. It probably will happen because we’ve got Peterborough away and that never seems to go well. It’s a marathon and not a sprint and all that.

That's the old Rovers...this is DC's brave new Rovers - beaten once we get there!

Rovers ain't Rovers without Quarters Thats not true though is it? When i was a child going to games with my dad we played in blue shirts and white shorts, for me that will always be our classic kit. I believe we have played in blue and white stripes and also all blue shirts/shorts. I wish we would ditch the current 1950"s style kit.

For you maybe that "will always be our classic kit" but I doubt it is for the masses. Apart from the spell between 1962-1973, the majority of our history has been in quarters and hopefully that is how it will remain.

We had a plain blue generic any team shirt when I started going in '73. Think I would rather stick with the quarters, fairly unique, almost iconic. For some of those 45 seasons , it's all we've had to be proud of. Feel free to fck about with the away shirt though, if you must.

To be honest I think we should have a season without the quarters, maybe stripes? we haven't always played in quarters We played in red and white stripes with black shorts as an away kit back in the 60s

I think I remember checking this a while back and it isn't yet a majority of our history. Could be wrong but don't think I am and can't be fecked to check.

1883-1931** No Quarters 1931-62** Quarters 1962-73 No Quarters 1973-2018 Quarters*
No Quarters = 53 ish years Quarters = 70 ish years
*If you count 1996-97 Tesco Bag Kit
**Take off about 6 years for wars

When we drew Wolves away last season ( We played really well) local Wolves fans here were asking if we still played in 'Them Quarters' so it is defo an identity we must keep.Do hope we retain the white shorts too. Always prefer us wearing the quarters away and in addition to the Wolves game,we played well in them at Mansfield two seasons ago.Incidently the villain that day Nicky Hunt who was rightly sent of(Ex Ted) having trials up here with Crewe.
