I would love us to sign a big, black, strong, powerful, athletic striker in the mound of Barry Hayles or Jason Roberts. If one was available or could be tempted to come here of course. I think it would compliment Harrison, Reilly or Nichols very well. We do need a full back or 2 and a dominating centre half as well for sure. I would that guy who plays for Lincoln City, Rhead ? Big, dirty and can head a ball... He's not black?

Yeah or a big, fat, orange, gay, polish, man-witch, space-pirate hybrid from the future who could bring a few goals from the 5th dimension.

I'm not sure what this fixation with spending money is all about. We're in League 1, where it's perfectly possible to get decent players in for free or small fees. Slocombe, Smith, Broadbent, Craig, Bennett, Menayese, Rodman, Reilly and Upson have all arrived at the club since we've been in League 1 and there's plenty of quality there. That list doesn't even include those who came before and continue to do an excellent job for us.
I'm also not convinced we need this dominating centre half. We have Broadbent or Menayese for those occasions when we play 3 at the back, or if Darrell wants to change the formation to combat an opponent's strengths. And yes, it's fine to change formation...he's done pretty well so far don't you think?!
Out wide, Rodman can play either side and we also have Mensah and Matthews who can compete on the right should we play 4-4-2.
I agree we need a left back and striker though. Left back is obvious as aside from the very raw Kelly or moving Craig from his best position, we have no options. Up front though, I'd like to see a strong player who can deputise for Ellis (Lyle Taylor was surely never going to come here to deputise and they may have been too similar to play together), but we also miss that fox in the box striker. Whether that will be Telford we'll have to wait and see, but Darrell's record is good and he gets signings right a lot more than he doesn't.
So, a left back and one or two strikers would be great. But let's just chill...it's only mid July!!!

If We stick a fiver away now he can bring the interest with him back from the future and pay for himself. That's just good business/time paradox sense.

What about if we could only sign a big, white, strong, powerful, athletic striker in the mould of Barry Hayles or Jason Roberts? Fair point Pirate, I don't know what race has to do with who we should or shouldn't sign. Not a lot really, other than Barry hayles and Jason Roberts were exactly as I described. Certain ethnicities or races of people have better athletic qualities than others. I mention black people as they can be powerful, strong sprinters, with great cores meaning they aren’t shoved off the ball easily but can also still have great footwork. I remember Hayles scaring defenders rigid with his raw power and pace. You get a white european with a similar build they tend to be a bit one dimensional. Strong, but not quick. Again I remember Lambert being strong, but he wasn’t quick. Defenders weren’t scared of his pace. That’s what I was trying to get at.

Otherwise you are making an imflatory stupid comment. Which is what I should come to expect from you given your previous form on here.

Fair one. To balance the books. Pirate (as he is the gaschat official player Scout) find me a white/orange/red/gay Jason Roberts to be happy with to sign for BRFC. 🤦🏼♂️

Without even attending a friendly it is clear that we are at least three signings away from competing above half way in |League 1. A dominating experienced centre half - to cut out the number of headers scored against us. None of our current centre halves are capable of regularly heading away crosses into the box. A strong centre forward - we are too light weight and will continue that way especially as we have lost Gaffney. DC should worry more about the basics strength, pace and power rather than forever changing formation. At least one experienced full back or play Craig there as a stay at home full back and actually play attacking players in front of the full backs. Personally I would add a pacy winger to those mentioned as well. Surely there is some money in the budget for a couple of key signings- we seem to be getting cheaper and cheaper each season. Not a competitive ball kicked in anger and the experts are at it already.
