Not in relation to Keith’s individual case, but this is more of a general point. Some people moan about Evolution not Revolution, but when there is a sign of actual revolution, people freak out. I assume because it is not the actual revolution they want, as the fixation is on the stadium and training ground I hope Keith hasn't been pushed aside in the fashion suggested, due to his contributions over the years, but we are only hearing one side of the story and this is what I hate about social media sometimes. Stories get leaked (good intentions or not), sometimes for the good, but sometimes it can cause just as much disruption whilst things may be trying to be resolved in the background. A frenzy is whipped up and people are demanding answers before there is even a story R This hasn't happened in just a week or a month. They did try to sort it out. Hence offering resination.... then board meeting.... Then not solved, so resignation confirmed today. Zero disruption here due to social media.

People seem to be making out it is all or nothing - I would say the real skill in evolution is modernising the club but still retaining the good bits about what it was before so there is continuity and the club retains some of it's identity beyond the name, badge and the kit. I get the feeling that this is not the first and won't be the last club that TG gives the scorched earth treatment to and when he has moved on to his 3rd or 4th club from now I wonder if the fans who are left behind will be asking who Bristol Rovers really are anymore? Someone gets it. That is the point. change is fine but a good employee takes people with them, not helps get rid of them. TG is already on his 4th football club - FACT. He'll be gone as soon as he can. And so will part of Rovers. DC instilled moral leadership and dragged up from the pit. Now its going off the pitch. TG may be on his 4th club but clearly he’s moving into bigger roles every step he’s taken. Maybe this is because he’s good at what he does?!

I have only had dealings with KB on one occasion & I must say I found him to be an absolute gentleman, a credit to the club. That said, do people really think that because he is a gentleman & because he has worked for the club for 21 years, that the club should consult him about 'outsourcing' the Matchday programme? I worked for a company for over 20 years, gave fantastic service & made them loads of money, but one day they told me that in X number of weeks part of my role was to be outsourced & that they would be replacing those duties with something else. Now I expect others might know more on employment law than I do, but the fact was that although I didn't like it, my employer had done nothing illegal they didn't need my consent to outsource (had they asked me I would have said I didn't agree with it.) Now, if the club has acted illegally or KB is going to sue I the club for constructive dismissal , then that's a different matter, but if he has resigned because the club didn't consult him about outsourcing part of his role, then that's up to him surely & thank you KB for your years of service. I have lots to gripe about this board but unless anyone can come up with any concrete facts to the contrary this is nothing more than social media hysteria because a nice bloke has (may have) resigned from his job! From what has been stated he was informed by email. They don't have a duty to get his input on operational decisions but you would think he would be told in person of any changes especially after so many years service. Was there also any attempt to utilise his skills in another capacity? It would be daft, imo, to lose someone who did his job so capably and loved the employer he worked for without at least seeking a compromise. IF he was told by email then that is water poor management (whoever his boss is, I assume TG). But that's what it is & there should have been an apology made, I suspect it would be more than that tho for him to resign. IF it was by email, then KB, I assume was rightly watered off & would rightly feel undervalued by his employer. Do we know if there was a grievance procedure taken out? Was he offered any redundancy or severance pay? People are saying he resigned, if true, it means he wasn't sacked & there was a job there for him to resign from. There has been no statement, to my knowledge, from KB or the club. The way things are the club won't communicate effectively, so it's down to KB, if he doesn't want to then it's all hearsay & lots of people being offended on behalf of someone else without knowing all the facts. My view FWIW, is that the owners want, rightly or wrongly, what they perceive to be a more professional / modern team running the club, and are hard business people without a lot if sentiment, but hey, they saved us from administration & the Higgs regime, they saved us from the jaws of UWE & are spending millions keeping us going & we are evolving, so it's all ok.

Can't argue with that if that's the case. It's still speculation though. agree entirely.
All we have is a handful of people telling us what apparently happened and it will be repeated ad museum by people who have heard it, but don't actually know.
You seem to be the prime mover in not wishing to believe this. Everything I write is fact. Really is. Just to clear it up because some was on another thread....... After 21 years Keith Brookman, Head of Media, offered resignation due to lack of consultation in changes to the work of his dept. asked to wait to see if board meeting could help. It didn't. Not retired. Not sacked. Not disciplined. The programme had been put out to tender by TG with zero consultation. The printer (pensord) & designer had worked all hours to tight / late deadlines. A new company was chosen to design, produce & print the award winning programme, but still no news of whether it will get produced. Maybe it will. Maybe someone else will do a great job. Fine. People are replaceable. But you don't need to bypass people and treat them like that. & all that change could harm an award winning programme, written 70% by volunteers & partly coordinated by a volunteer. The previous long standing designer, Ann Walter, in constant contact with Keith, was told by TG by email she no longer had a job. I never wrote that Keith had prog taken away from him / told by email. Not sure how TG told him. There were other incidents but not going into that at the moment. For clarity- media dept reports to Chairman. So mention of TG being his boss is simply untrue. This is public knowledge. Keith has integrity, love & his own sort of passion. Keith wasn't a greasy pole climber or awards person. He just got on with it. But he was also passionate for rovers & for the staff - I remember him telling people off for mentioning error strewn reports - I didn't totally agree with his response but it showed his passion & his loyalty to those he was helping to improve. He was the fixer for players & for charity items, hospital visits, advertising charity events etc. He was the Ray Kendall of our day. He did everything & asked for nothing. Yes he was paid but really did a lot more because he loved Rovers. Finally, just a reminder that this idea that just because he was there 21 years means he was not professional or moving the club forward is sheer tosh. And the dept has grown under him & made lots of positive changes. The videos you like The interviews you like The website you read The twitter you follow The programme you & hospitality people read The gasheads in there who get birthday greetings, get well soon messages, even death notices The charity items organised The local events advertised Where did all that come from? The catering dept? Fair enough to have a different opinion but totally ignoring evidence is a strange way to firm a rational opinion. How exactly does losing staff, volunteers & an award winning programme mean moving us forward?

Sounds like change for change's sake. Very sad to hear that someone doing a top job was treated so disrespectfully.
In general, the way the club communicate now is pretty disappointing. There's hardly any update on important issues, and then on those rare occasions there are club announcements they come across either blasé and/or abrupt with minimal detail.
Let's just hope the team gets off to a flying start to distract from what's going on off the field.

Bit confused here....someone says he wasn’t consulted and someone in an earlier part of this thread says he was informed by email about these changes. Which one is it? Both ...not consulted and informed of decision once made by email is what people are saying.

Having dealt with keith and written in the programme, I know full well what a good bloke he is. When I was sacked from the programme he told me personally the powers that be didnt want me to write in it anymore. If Keith bas been treated poorly, then there is ZERO excuse for that. Ignoring Keith for a minute, I go back to some people insinuating and infering the club is being run into the ground. Well who is doing anything about it apart drom wittering on the internet in vague terms. Like always someone wants someone else to take charge. If things are that bad what are Ken and the SC doing? Are they being true to form and at best completely ineffective. Surely there should be a call to arms and they should be highlighting all that os wrong to the fans for the fans

If he was doing the same thing there I would think this is quite a step down! You don’t just join a club at Commercial director level though. Everyone works there way up somehow. Looks to me like he’s gone from Sales Executive at Portsmouth, Sales and Marketing manager at Cardiff, Head of Marketing at Brighton, Women’s Team Director at Brighton before becoming our commercial director. All jobs sound like a step in the right direction to me and just show career progression. You don’t get these moves being bad at what you do. I’m willing to give him a chance. He is always going to upset a few on the way. Maybe Keith should have been given more respect. But we don’t really have a clue how or why these decisions were made to pass too much judgement on the decision itself.

How do we know that the email was an email of how the club want the future of the media to go and KB didn’t agree so walked away? I work for a company that has recently gone through 5yrs of ‘evolution’, we’ve been at the pits and now the new CEO has totally revamped the organisation, changed every director and head of service and got us to a point where we’re financially sound and challenging the ‘big guns’ in our sector, so much so that we’ve just partnered with a huge company in our sector to become the largest in our operating area. Yes plenty of people have left, including some of the longest serving people at the company, but this happens when you progress and aim for bigger things. Social media is one of the fastest growing industries on the planet and (with I guess potentially being agest), I think it’s a young persons game at the moment, it takes a lot to keep up with absolutely everything, it is a full time role overseeing with many full time hands helping underneath, and maybe KB didn’t want to give everything up or didn’t want what Rovers we’re offering him? I guess really only BRFC and KB know that? Unless of course someone from inside the club is sharing info 🤷🏼♂️

The analogy for me is like a new manager coming in and wanting all his own players in and the old out
Now , If BBC Radio Bristol have any nous they will employ KB as a commentator if only in a similar role.

Met Keith on many occasions over the years, a good guy, funny and a passionate gashead. I am surprised he resigned though. Reading much of what has been posted on here, I get the feeling he resigned because he objected to change, at the same time his employers did not necessarily want him to leave. I am surprised he left then given all the time he has put in over and above his paid role. The story he told my son and I outside of Tranmere's ground about the challenge of ordering post match pizzas up there for the players still makes me laugh. But there you go. Perhaps that story tells you the degree to which the club has changed. That its not appropriate for the pregramme editor to be responsible for post match player feeding, and pizzas even less so. Yes it was fun, it was great to have really good blokes like Keith giving his all. But was it the highest degree of professionalism that we must aspire to? Each member here can make their own decision.

Good post, I have more sympathy with people who lost their employment when the supporters club shop shut in Kingswood, than someone who resigns because of change if that was the case. I am sure Keith is a top bloke & wish him well in the future but in life we have probably all had issues with our employers, but sometimes have to bite the bullet & carry on.

I’m just irked that people are coming on here putting messages down and potentially turning people against the club or members of the club, but frankly we don’t know what’s gone on, what’s been said, what’s been offered because we apparently have to believe someone behind a username. You’ve admitted yourself that you’ve left bits out, that could change someone’s opinion on how the conversation between BRFC and KB went.

Unless of course someone from inside the club is sharing info 🤷🏼♂️ Glad to hear your company is doing well thanks to a new CEO. Lol, thanks, I’ll pass it on. (Like here though, not everyone is happy about it, and loads of rumours are being spread, many of which are just fabrication, something that’s related to a lot on here!)

So, we are on our way to be a modern club, appearing in a 19th century tip of a ground. Meanwhile the training ground is getting harder by the day, certainly too hard for tent pegs

I’m not fussed in asking Tom, I’m on the side of change and frankly think it’s a good thing what’s happening at the club. Totally get that pal, i think some of th average folk on here would just like a bit more communication from th guys that matter then we can all tell th 'in th know brigade' to do one.
Personally i can see both sides on this ta be fair.

Look, i dont pretend to have a clue about whats been going on, but i do know this.Companies do not make changes for the sake of it ,they only activate new ideas and procedures if it can be shown it will make a cost saving and generate more revenue. The trick is this, you sit down with those used to doing things the old way, tell them that there contribution over the years is highly valued, but we believe this new way will be of a greater benefit to the club, we would like you to be part of this process as we believe your experience and local knowledge will be of great value to the process, this will involve a change in the roll you play but hope you will embrace the new way of doing things, hard though it may be at first, if you would like a few days to mull it over fine, we will respect what ever decision you come to.It is my experience that nobody likes change, and the older you get the harder it is to accept, but sometimes it takes an outsider to see whats needed, bit like yer garden, before you plant the seeds of new growth you have to dig out the old, but unlike gardening dont throw them on the compost heap, try and find a place for them somewhere else, as i said i dont have a clue whats been going on but sincerely hope Keith has been treated with the respect he deserves and continues in his life long passion for all things Rovers!
