One I forgot to mention is Ivan Toney. He's 'only' 5ft 10in, but good in the air. He would be good. Like the look of Ivan Toney. Good record at this level.
Do you think Newcastle would let him go?
Surely given his record at Scunny they'd want him back?
They might let him go at the right price, but maybe a loan would be more realistic. No idea if Scunthorpe would want him back.

Assuming we're looking for a centre forward how do you think Chaplin is a suitable replacement for EH when he's another "midget" at just 5'6"? It looks like he's now staying at Pompey anyway. Personally, if we need another No 10 I'd sign Telford For a replacement for EH I'd test FGR's resolve with a decent bid for Doidge. Just a petty we didn't sign Akinde, who Lincoln probably signed for next to nothing. He's got 2 years left and FGR are hardly desperate for cash. Plus I'm not convinced by him completely at a higher level anyway. We have to be realistic. Don't disagree but looking at Pirates list we seem short on options, Kee's too short, getting on a bit and may not want to leave Accy, the rest all seem on the young side apart from Cole and who knows if he's prepared to leave the north west. If we did only get £750K for EH he's looking a steal for Ipswich if Eisa has moved for £1m+ after just one season in league football.

If we don't sign a serious forward this week I'm going to be very worried, the prospect of not having anyone in the building and settled before the season starts could put pay to our season.
There can be no excuses now. Gaffney went weeks ago, everyone knew the Harrison situation was a possibility. The club has banked at least £1,000,000 from these transactions, we must sign a proven goalscorer appropriate for this level; a second signing up top could be someone less experienced.
These are not the good old days when selling our best players meant we could pay the rent and keep the club going for another season, the money must go back into the attack.
I expect to see the club's transfer record broken this week.

Stumbling block would be wages I would imagine. I'm really not sure where we are going to go with this. When we lost Taylor we had Bodin, when we lost Bodin we had Ellis. Now I know we have Bennett but it is a bit worrying on the whole.

Billy Kee, 27-year-old, 5ft 9in, Accrington. 26 goals from 52 games in 17/18. Devante Cole, 23-year-old, 6ft 1in, Wigan. 12 goals/6 assists from 40 apps in 17/18. Joe Nuttall, 21-years-old, 5ft 11½in, Blackburn. 5 goals from 6 starts for the first team in all comps and 14 goals from 15 games in Premier League 2. Nominated for PL2 Player of the Season Macaulay Bonne, 22-year-old, 5ft 11in, Leyton Orient. 25 goals from 52 apps during 17/18. Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, 19-year-old, 5ft 8in, Aston Villa. He scored 13 times, including a brace to send his club to the PL2 play-off final, days before Villa lifted the Premier League Cup. Nominated for PL2 Player of the Season. Or any of these lads abroad: Dani Aquino, Macauley Chrisantus, Cristian López, Manuel Fischnaller, Alessandro Capello, Marcel Platzek, Sam Hendriks, Enis Bunjaki, Nico Empen, Ander Vitoria, Zakaria Suraka, Sadat Karim, Ivan Lendric, Gabriele Moncini. Macauley Bonne would be my desired choice out of those. Big Jock mentioned Sean McConville also. The pair of those up top would be a decent strikeforce in this league IMO. Billy Kee is a good player but I think he has had some mental health issues in the last 2 years. He is settled now at Accy but could a change in club and city upset his balance again? I have a close family member who cannot handle change and the pressure of it. Not saying Kee couldn’t, just a raised question.

I'd put a decent offer in for Sean McConville. He's a winger. I thought he was more of an inside forward. Ideally suited to a 433 that DC likes to play.

The amount of quality strikers in this country that would be prepared to come here is very limited IMHO. Even Doidge I have my doubts about. I watched him a couple of times last season and thought his slight lack of pace and mobility could see him struggle at this level. People will point to Lambert and his lack of pace, but two totally different players. Doidge might step up and smash in 15 goals or more, but if I had to risk my own money on him, then I'd be reluctant to spend the type of fee FGR would be wanting.

You're right to raise the point about Kee and that would be my only concern and could put clubs off from going in for him. It's something you could only really gauge from talking directly to the player, so hard to say from afar. As for McConville, I'm not convinced he will have the same impact from the wing at this level, let alone a position he is unfamiliar with.

I thought he was more of an inside forward. Ideally suited to a 433 that DC likes to play. Always played as a traditional winger when I've seen him and I'm pretty sure Accrington played a 4-4-2 with him on the wing and Kee and Jackson upfront for the majority of last season.

If Doidge is a nause as some poster said we don’t want him here, they all get on, don’t really rate him, Stockley at Exeter was shocking in the play offs. What about David wheeler at qpr, bet they would take a loss on him. Exeter have some cash maybe we could get 150k for Nichols and put it down as a bad deal. Watched videos of him scoring for Exeter looked a different player, for us can’t finish an Asda breakfast 😂

Wheeler is another winger.

I wouldn't be surprised for one of our strikers to be more experienced. We've got no experience up top now. I do prefer us signing players on the way up and perhaps one of the 2 I expect us to sign will be that.
But what experienced strikers are out there?
I seen Mcgoldrick was released by Ipswich but looks like he is impressing at Sheff utd on trial.
Any chance of Darren Bent?

McGoldrick would have been quality, but saw he was on trial at Sheffield United and thought better of it. I think his wages could be beyond us too. Bent? I haven't seen a lot of him over the past couple of years so hard to know what level he is at, but I could see him scoring at this level potentially. Could Yann Kermogant do a job for a year? He might be 36 now, but it was only the 16/17 season he was scoring 19 goals in the Championship. He is without a club at the moment.

I can't imagine there is much between us ok the wages front.
