What a shambles to a start of a season yet again...seems we’re free falling again...
Can’t buy a home shirt
Everyone still waiting for season tickets to turn up
Prices of everything has gone up
Star players sold and no back up plan
No training ground movement
Redevelopment of the mem is a joke
Defence as it was last year leaking goals
Even all the top scoring players in league 2 are way out of our reach Even with 1.4 million made off our 4 best players
Even hiring professional people to run commercial side it’s still run like a parks club....
I just think we should be Embarrassed we carried Wael down Gloucester Road now and if he was standing at the top now he wouldn’t get a lift off anyone let alone carried

So, not only can he not score goals but he also can't stay fit. Brilliant. Not a big fame of Doidge myself. Perhaps you do need to watch a bit more football if a 6 goal in 67 injury prone striker is the best you can come up with. Ryan Taylor. Any thoughts on Mikael Mandron at Colchester, Pirate? Doesn’t seem prolific from his Wiki but 6ft 3 and 23 years old. Scored 10 in 44 League Two games last season - which isn’t terrible if he’s good at holding it up and bringing midfielders into the game high up the pitch. Just guessing, but I imagine the fee for Mandron would be considerably lower than what Stockley and Doidge are likely to go for. Its very underwhelming if this is the best we can hope for.

We might as well play Broadbean up front.

You’re all saying that we aren’t showing enough ambition, and to an extent I agree. However, we have all seen what DC has done in previous seasons. Consistently bringing in players on a shoestring that have gone on to be strong members of the starting eleven.
Snake, Bodin, Partington, Bennett, Etc have all been low budget options at the time, and I doubt many of you would say those players were not good players. We paid a premium for Sercombe and he has delivered. The only large price paid that hasn’t been worth it is Nichols. Mensah will come good and is showing those signs already. Holmes-Dennis looks like a very good long term signing, and savvy when we couldn’t have afforded him if not for his injury.
If DC brings in a striker from the lower leagues, he will have done his homework. He won’t just buy a player for the sake of it. As he’s said, they have a list to fit each budget - aka he has done his homework on the best eventuality for each budget.
There’s a lot of knee-jerking going on and I am sick of it when there’s just shy of 2 weeks left of the window and we only received the money for Ellis like a week ago.

You keep confusing doom and gloom with realism.
Those of us who can understand football can see that our current squad will struggle because we lack firepower. That is a realistic statement.
We need at least 2 more strikers who can actually score. That will make a big difference to our fortunes. That is a realistic statement. Yesterdays horror show is exactly what we can expect to see from our current squad on a regular basis this coming season. That is a realistic statement.
However, somehow you cannot grasp this and instead call other gasheads who have realism (because they can see the glaringly obvious) a doom monger and whinger. I would have thought what happened yesterday would be real with yourself but no. After the game you instead come back and call us doom mongers and whingers again! Crazy!
One last point as I cant be assed to go around in further circles with you about this. I take it you also think DC is a doom monger and whinger too as admits we are in need for strikers? I am sure he will know the upcoming struggles of this season without more firepower, hence why he is desperately trying to get these strikers in.
Current squad will struggle. More firepower is needed. Yesterday was proof. If you really can't see this then for your sake, I truly hope DC gets in 2 decent strikers because if he don't, at some point realism will hit you and you will have a big fall from that cloud 9 that you are currently residing on.
Good day to you.
Oh I understand a little bit about football, as a level 1 qualified football coach, a youth team manager for 7 years and somewhere in the region of between 6-700 Rovers matches home and away over 30 years iv'e watched quite a bit of football as it goes. Point out where I said we do not need additional firepower? It's pretty clear a couple of strikers are required, which will hopefully arrive in good time, they will have to click quickly and stay injury free for most if not all of the season to stop people moaning on here, what I definitely understand is droning on an internet football forum does not produce the desired results, never has done and never will, and reading the same dross is depressing as F##k. Yesterdays 'horror show' as you call it was a pre-season friendly, and since the day I was born they have never been reflective of the capability of any given squad, it wasn't too many season's ago when pre-season got off to a flyer under Trollope and we couldn't buy a win when the season began. A little more about my understanding of the game, this season has not yet kicked off, the transfer window is open until the 9th of August, every season there is a flurry of last minute activity and there is barring one game played an entire season ahead, no one has ever been promoted in August, these are not realistic points, these are stone cold facts. I do not see DC as a doom monger, he knows exactly how to play the game and I have complete faith in the best manager in our clubs history to deliver a decent season, and if we have to wait until we get the right striker at the right price in the building then I'm happy to do that as I have been in over 3 decades, because that is football, and we should support the manager. I understand that as supporters we have to wait until Christmas to get some kind of little sneak preview into who is realistically looking at a good chance of promotion, even then in previous seasons under DC we have faltered up until the mid season then had a stormer from Christmas onwards. So as today is 29th July I will not be whinging or panicking about the fact we haven't bought an expensive striker, seen plenty of expensive flops at the Mem and Twerton over the years. If things are looking bleak in February then perhaps then I will start to panic, but under the best manager the club has ever had and the most progressive owners we have ever had I don't expect to be flustering around then. 24 teams in this league again this season, only 3 will be successful, not an easy feat by anyone's imagination, even more so building off the back of two quick promotions in recent seasons, looking forward to seeing how we do without the need to start throwing about negativity by the bucket load before the ref has had the chance to blow his whistle for the first game of the season. I cant be assed to read all that as I said I was done continuing going around in circles with your good self. Thanks for replying anyway I guess.

Upson, Matthews, Rodman, Holmes-Dennis and Reilly have all arrived. Better or worse than what we had this time last year? DC is (having to build?) building another team - yes, we've lost a few good un's but tell me a time when it's been any different? One centre forward and we'll start the season in better shape than last

I for one think we are moving forward with a descent striker signed its play offs from me

Totally agree, all fan bases are made of a cross section of society, some people have balance of the mind and others don't, some people have insecure lives so feel the need to bash everything and anything behind their keyboard. And others just don't have the mindset or can't see the whole picture for whatever reason. Most Gasheads I kow don't bother with forums for the sake of sanity!
