What final position would you like to see us in at the end of the season
i will start off by saying the same as last year and I think anything else will not show an improvement on last season

If no new strikers, I'll be happy with survival.
If we get a decent new striker then mid table.
If we get two decent new strikers then I would expect a top 8 finish.

You have to aim for a top finish. With two good strikers added to this squad can see a top 6 finish.

I will give you an answer once the transfer window closes. I fancy we will sign a striker today.

I'll be happy to have a comfortable mid table finish. Maybe a Cup run, or is that just being silly?

I think we will struggle this season finishing a few places above the relegation zone. Hope I am wrong but I just don't think we defend well enough and will also miss Ellis' undoubted defensive qualities. I hear what people are saying about the importance of new strikers on our chances this season but even if we get two good ones in, I just cannot see how we are going to stop the goals going in. I am pretty sure that for a few seasons now, we often seem to have an inferior goal difference to teams around and even below us- we just concede too many. Okay, so it may not matter if we have points in the bag instead but there has to be an issue with us as a team if we are in this negative goal difference situation season on season. Lets hope the midfield additions help us cement solidity and protect the back line and I also think that someone that can hold the ball up up front would also be a big help as too often for me, long balls and forward passes don't stick enough.

I think we are the two decent strikers away from a top six finish. We have strengthened in midfield where I think we were weak last season, our defence was strengthened by Craig and the continued progress of broadbent. We have two competent keepers in smith and slocombe battling it out to be number 1. Without the two decent strikers we will probably finish close to where we did last season , which would be disappointing due to how strong our midfield now looks. For what it’s worth I also believe that we will sign the required strikers fairly soon, so I’m feeling very positive for the new season.

I assume that's why Upson was brought in as the holding CM to try and help cut out the goals conceded? Assuming we get in a couple of decent strikers and if either Reilly or Nichols can score a few goals them with Rodman and Bennett on the wings surely a top 10 finish is achievable. Once you get inside the top 10 there's not a lot between the sides usually between the sides up to the top 3.

What final position would you like to see us in at the end of the season 1st obviously.
But if you ask where do I think we will finish, I think 17th or below based on the current squad. Lets see who else comes in or departs before I can give my prediction.

Top 10 would be great.
Realistically, I think it will be 15 to 10.
Agreed that a positive GD would be great.

Would be happy with a mid table finish - anywhere between 9th and 15th.
Not too bothered about goal difference as the odd big defeat is a natural consequence of a manager who goes for wins - sometimes it goes for you, sometimes against. It's certainly more entertaining than having no Plan B though.
To achieve this, I think we need two new strikers and if one really hits the ground running in his first season we may flirt with the play offs. With the squad as it is today though, I'm not sure there are enough goals in us.
Either way, can't wait! UTG

The current squad haven't played in anger yet so a bit early to be saying that.

One massive improvement to the defensive qualities of the team this year is the arrival of Ed Upson. I think this guy will prove to be very important for us as he acts as a screen in front of the back line which should give us solidity and he also likes to get us on the ball from the back which should hopefully allow us to go from the defence to the attack quicker. If the Lockyer-Craig partnership can be decent for us again and Holmes-Dennis proves to be competent at defending then I think we will do better defensively than we have the last two seasons.
I’m more worried about where the goals will come from. The midfield will chip in when they can as Bennett, Sercombe and Rodman will always be dangerous on the offensive but I can’t see Nichols and Reilly up front together being particularly potent which is why we need reinforcements in that area of the pitch. If DC and TW can allay these concerns and bring in the two number nines that they are promising then I think we could well have a real shot of finishing in the top six. UTG

With only 2 strikers, unless Nichols and O Reilly are banging them in, i can t see us troubling top 6 again.

We need 2 quality strikers and probably another left back as it sounds from DC like THD will not be fit for the start of the season and is not likely to play 50+ games between now and May.
IF we sign 2 quality strikers and another decent LB then I think we will finish in the top half and could challenge for the top 6.
However, if those 3 players are not good enough we could easily go down because as it stands we will not score enough goals.
