Will you stop assuming I understand stuff like that. Can't you come out with phrases to do with cheese, or constipation, or cheese constipation? I might stand a chance as to what you're on about? I think they're trying to say that anyone who voted for Leave is thicker than Whale Sperm. lol no I'm not. But I am saying those who voted either way without proper reasoning is unlikely to change their mind with reason.

Leavers on here (and anywhere for that matter) have utterly failed to present a reasoned argument for leaving. Other than "Feelings" I can feel a song coming on 😂

You should know by now officer, putting forward a reasoned point on here is deemed "elitist".

Reasoning will never make a man correct an ill opinion, which by reasoning he did not acquire. Jonathan Swift. Will you stop assuming I understand stuff like that. Stuart - Do you think the National Veto will last much longer? Watching the video he is quite certain that invoking QMV, via the Lisbon Treaty, is what is going to happen.....as many of us suggest. "Verhofstadt admits plan to scrap veto and FORCE EU project on member states" Guy talks about ending National Vetos and moving to QMV

"Verhofstadt admits plan to scrap veto and FORCE EU project on member states" Guy talks about ending National Vetos and moving to QMV You really should have warned me that your link was a Daily Express article. That is a 1 minute snippet and the article mixes the Dublin Treaty with QMV so perhaps they are confused. This is a newspaper which the other year wrote a piece about the Navy buying a 5" gun for the new ships thinking it was the literally the length of a toothbrush and not the diameter of the shells 😂 Anyway, what it didn't state was how it would happen in practice. There has been talk of going to QMV for some additional social security rules so here is a piece which may be of interest Note the times it mentions national government and unanimity : Moving to qualified majority voting would in any case be a democratic decision entirely under the Member States' control. It was their unanimous decision to include the passerelle clauses in the EU Treaties. It would take another unanimous decision of the European Council (or the Council) to activate the passerelle clauses. In addition, in the case of the general passerelle clause, any national Parliament may object to its use and the European Parliament has to give its consent. What is the legal basis for moving to qualified majority voting? Changing to qualified majority voting or the ordinary legislative procedure in the areas of non-discrimination and social security and social protection of workers is possible using Article 48(7) of the Treaty on European Union. No EU Treaty change is necessary. The European Council would have to decide by unanimity to activate this clause, with no objection from national parliaments, and with the European Parliament's consent.

Looking forward to going back to work for a rest. Just for the record, Lisbon can be amended two ways under Article 48; Ordinary revision states "The amendments shall enter into force after being ratified by all the Member States in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements." Simplified revision states "Any initiative taken by the European Council on the basis of the first or the second subparagraph shall be notified to the national Parliaments. If a national Parliament makes known its opposition within six months of the date of such notification, the decision referred to in the first or the second subparagraph shall not be adopted. In the absence of opposition, the European Council may adopt the decision. For the adoption of the decisions referred to in the first and second subparagraphs, the European Council shall act by unanimity after obtaining the consent of the European Parliament, which shall be given by a majority of its component members."

You've got to laugh. With Brexit being the very top political issue of the day, what happens at PMQ's? Nothing. This is the fifth week where Brexit didn't get a mention between Corbyn and May at PMQ's.

Like the ice cream man found dead in his van covered in hundreds & thousands, chocolate sauce and a flake. Police reckon he topped himself.

So one last go then, early June. Not a meaningful vote but the actual bill. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-48286543Speaking to a House of Lords committee earlier, Stephen Barclay said the withdrawal bill will be published "as soon as possible". He said: "I think if the House of Commons does not approve the WAB, then the Barnier deal is dead in that form and I think the House will have to then address a much more fundamental question between whether it will pursue... a no-deal option or whether it will revoke." International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said MPs will have to decide "if they want to vote for Brexit or not".
