So the season for the gas is about to start. Targets have been set within the club. They will be written into contracts. The dressing room will have some ideas on what they are aiming for. Where will we finish this season?

With the current squad , I think it’ll be a struggle ( bottom half )but , if we do get the couple of decent strikers in through the door , I think we are in with a decent shout of top six. Our midfield looks very strong so it would be such a shame to not have the quality upfront to compliment them. Still , I’m always positive!

Judging by the mood on here the last few weeks haven't we been relegated already?

Three hours to go before our first match. At this stage 14% of the voters in the poll think we will either win the championship, be promoted automatically, be promoted through the play offs or reach the play offs but eventually miss out. I’m in this group.
If we do achieve any of the above then another 86% of our fans will be absolutely delighted. It will be beyond their thoughts right now. I know the the club are aiming for at least play offs. Many are lowering their expectations and nothing wrong with that. If we get to the play offs at end of season it will be party time.

Twenty minutes to go before first match and 22% of the initial voters reckon we could be champions, automatic, promoted through play offs or just miss out after making the play offs. Exciting to be part of a positive enthusiastic group.

Sell your top marksman every window then you must expect a bottom half finish perhaps even a bit of a scrap to stay up.

So again we find ourselves in the bottom four. We don’t have good starts for some reason. Embarrassing say some. Maybe it’s time to review your thoughts on where we will end. If you have voted before feel free to change your thoughts. It’s unimaginable that we will be in bottom four at season end.

We tend to start like this though, level out for a but and then never really pick up great form for a few months.

Got a bad feeling about this season. Low confidence, leaky defence and a front line that is yet to prove itself. We need a win ASAP to get up and running.

I’m not panicking just yet. Defensive issues can rectified by our new defensive coach and our first choice fullbacks returning to the fray, DC reminding Lockyer that he is not undroppable might not be a bad thing either. Our issues in the midfield look to be mainly down to players being played out of position and not gelling with each other. There’s a lot more to come from them I feel, we dominated the second half against a strong Peterborough and that was mainly down to our midfield really taking the game to them. In attack it seems as if we have brought in a striker who will work hard, provide goals and be an aerial threat in Stefan Payne and I’m sure there’s a lot more to come from Reilly, Jakubiak and Nichols.
Fingers crossed this group of players push on in the next couple of weeks so we can see what they are really capable of and that DC finds the right formula of players in his starting lineup so we can negate this patch of poor form.

Where will we finish this season? At home to Barnsley (unless we're in the play-offs).

We lose and it's a meltdown, were going down, down, down.
We win and it's euphoria, were going up, up, up.
Repeat ad infinitum for the next 44 league games.

I'm finding it hard to choose between top half but outside of playoffs and bottom half. I basically think mid table mediocrity. I am slightly worried though as we are stagnating and bad vibes are returning.

Let's look at the evidence:
Lost a friendly 4-0 to a team from a lower division, lost 2 league games on the bounce one of which was (arguably) our easiest home game where our opponents only had to put effort in for 12 minutes to put 2 past us and win the game.
So as it stands right now it has to be relegation for me. We just are not good enough by a long shot. Thankfully there are 44 games to be played yet so this post will hopefully come back to bite me on the ass.

Still a lot of unknowns about our squad- we've not seen a minute of action from THD or Jakubiak and have not seen much more of Matthews or Reilly. We also don't know if we're missing THD, Partington, Menayese and Sinclair for a week or two or half a season given the secrecy on the injury front. We've probably got enough there to stay up but if we are going to continue to leave our best games on the training ground or in the changing/treatment rooms then lower mid-table is the most likely outcome.
