I just don't get that you can't rock up to the ground and pay cash at the turnstile. How many last minute customers are the club likely to miss out on by not having cash turnstiles? Nothing in life is allowed to be last minute anymore. I think it's a real shame. You can just rock up to the ground and go to the ticket booth first. In future this will be easy as everyone else will be normalised to being prepared

Regardless we need to keep up with the times and this should’ve been implemented along time ago. What we do need to improve on is the efficiency of the ticket office, Tuesday was a shambles with queues onto Gloucester road - especially when you consider it was Crawley and the Carabao cup. Can’t imagine what it will be like if we get drawn against a Prem team at home in the next round!

The game was a small crowd relatively unattractive fixture, and the queue went to Gloucester road! It would have been twice/three/four times as bad if the crowd was anywhere near normal

That's to sell tickets to anyone who is POTD and to give out tickets that have been bought in advance and need picking up. The sooner people can print out at home the better.

There were at least 4 windows open, and I saw Clare come out of the cabin and ask people to filter to all of them and not stand in 1 queue

If we progress and get a big team, it's normally all ticket anyway? Funny how fans can manage to get them in advance then. Yes of course, but this was Crawley for goodness sake. The club must have loads of money spare if it can't have systems in place to encourage the casual, last minute fan for a low profile game such as this. How many of those queuing half a mile away at the top of the Gloucester road thought, this is crazy and gave up? It could have been 10's or even a hundred or so - can the club afford to throw away that amount of gate money, and the extra income from beer, food etc.? As I said on another thread yesterday regarding this and the half time TV nonsense - if this is the new professionalism, give me the old amateurism back please.
You are not exaggerating by any chance are you?

There was definitely 4 windows open in the ticket office when I arrived & only about 20 people in each queue so getting our tickets was relatively easy. But after leaving the bar to go to the West enclosure the gueues had grown considerably & out the memorial gates but as luck would have it I noticed Tom Gorringe walking around & had a word with him about the problem. He admitted he was surprised especially after everything going well at the Accrington game but said a new eight window ticket office will be installed in the near future.

Bought a ticket for Portsmouth online as planning ahead for Tuesday.
Now seeing a customer at 6pm and unlikely to make the game!
I know I can get a refund but this sums it up for me!
What a waste of time! And possibly money!
I'll still be queuing to buy tickets on match day from now on!

Do you want them to rearrange the game for you? Ask the customer nicely if they could come earlier so you can make it or ask for the kick off to be put back till later. A season ticket makes it cheaper per game and even missing games you still save money 💰 Hope you make it and it’s worth it.

Am I being stupid or can you just rock up to the turnstile and pay by card rather than cash? Or is the point that you have to have a ticket to enter at the turnstile?

Sounds fair enough once they sort out the ticket office to enable pre-match to go more smoothly.

I don't get how anybody working for the club could be surprised there was more demand for tickets on Tuesday night than on the Saturday for a league game. Surely they realised season tickets holders didn't have to worry about buying a ticket for a league game like they did on Tuesday night? Instead of increasing ticket office windows and the staff costs to man them why don't they just make it either easier or cheaper to get tickets online. The way we're going any savings on ticket less fans getting in for free will be outweighed by extra staff etc costs.

But it now means that I'll be less likely to book a ticket online as I can't see the benefit of arsing about if I make a late decision not to attend. Hey ho, as and when, I'll join a queue to then queue again. Let's hope we can print a ticket off at home soon! Work over football every time in the week. UTG!
