I thought that casual fans could get a membership and a plastic ticket.
Tickets can then easily be purchased online for individual game and the card topped up
This removes the need to que and pay for postage.
Is this in place?

Not yet, but I believe Tom G said it is being worked on and that and printed tickets and ST incentives will be coming.
I think they wanted to get the initial thing working at get ST holder in the ground, before going further.
Trying to minimise what could go wrong or everyone trying to claim stuff straight away

Given the card just flashes a light when put near the card reader I can't see how games can be added to it, as how could the ticket operator check if you said you'd uploaded a match if the light didn't flash the right colour?

Assume there is a central database so pretty simple and would resolve much of the current problems. Could update via a smartphone in seconds.
Ticket office for those unable / unwilling to go down this route.

You really don’t like these turnstiles do you? Functionality to add the card to your Apple wallet would be cool too for all those people who are too lazy to find the card in their real wallet.

I believe they said something about expanding the functions of the cards later in the season, but they just need to get the basics going smoothly, first.

Are you just trying to find something to moan about with these cards? Would an Oyster card work with no money on it?

You don't literally upload a ticket to the card - the card just has your unique identifier. This links to an entry for you in a central database. The card reader reads your unique identifier from the card, then checks the central database to see if you've bought a ticket.
If you think you've bought a ticket for a match, but computer says no, you would go to the ticket office to sort it out, obvs. Would be pretty rare though - this is tried and trusted technology. No different to having a card that lets you enter an office building, for instance, and they've been around for decades.

Queues for tickets last night were ridiculous considering there were only 2,000+. Should we progress in any of the Cups I hope that a system is put in place which avoids huge queues.

Attendance trends for the first two home matches are worrying compared to recent years so this really needs to be resolved ASAP if the club doesn’t want to shoot itself in the foot.

If we progress and get a big team, it's normally all ticket anyway? Funny how fans can manage to get them in advance then.

Put simply you have to make an effort to log in to a website and buy a ticket. Sometimes I can't be arsed and therefore I won't bother going. Many times last season I made a decision at lunchtime to attend and pay on the day. Collecting tickets eats in to drinking time as well. Going to football isn't like planning a trip to the cinema. Anyway, under DC the season doesn't start until November

The club must have loads of money spare if it can't have systems in place to encourage the casual, last minute fan for a low profile game such as this. How many of those queuing half a mile away at the top of the Gloucester road thought, this is crazy and gave up? It could have been 10's or even a hundred or so - can the club afford to throw away that amount of gate money, and the extra income from beer, food etc.? As I said on another thread yesterday regarding this and the half time TV nonsense - if this is the new professionalism, give me the old amateurism back please.

If the technology is there already why haven't the club introduced it straight away? From my own personal experience technology like this is usually far cheaper to introduce on day 1 rather than further down the line . Like everything later involving Rovers I'll remain sceptical about what we're told until it's actually introduced. After all the electronic turnstiles actually turned out to be an electronic card reader!

He said you will be able to use your phone and scan a code or print a ticket. There will be 8 windows to but tickets on the day as well. Eventually this method will be better. They should have left some cash turnstiles open, until it was up and running though.

When the ST cards were announced I assumed the membership card, print off at home or QR code on phone would have been in from day one. FGR up the road do this. I live near FGR so when fixtures allow I'll nip up there for my football fix. Only ever issue I had was remembering which seat I had reserved when booking was added to card. Granted, they have a lot less members

I just don't get that you can't rock up to the ground and pay cash at the turnstile. How many last minute customers are the club likely to miss out on by not having cash turnstiles?
Nothing in life is allowed to be last minute anymore. I think it's a real shame.
