I think we really miss Stu Sinclair. We are lacking that player in the middle who won’t stop running, and while he may not be our most technical player, put him alongside Linsey and Sercombe I think all 3 could be a strong middle. Would love to see what Darrel does when he is fit again be sue at the moment I feel like he is what we are missing.

For me more importantly we are missing our first choice fullbacks. Lee Brown and Joe Partington never were/are the most celebrated of players but they stopped crosses from coming into our box, gave our defenders more confidence which allowed them to concentrate on their own game more and provided more support to our wingers which in turn increased the supply to our strikers. Both were consistent too, you’d know that you would be getting solid 7/10 performances most weeks. When Partington and Holmes-Dennis return, DC starts playing Sercombe in the middle and we work out what the best combination up front is, we will be a much more balanced and settled squad which should hopefully start putting results together, also keeping my fingers cross that Bonham will prove to be an upgrade over Smith or Slocombe as a good Keeper can often inspire defenders and improve the defensive capabilities of the team as a whole.
As for Sinclair, you can’t not love a player that gives his all for the team, now more than ever do we need a player giving 100% to the team to try and turn things around. He’s not the best technically and is probably not the answer in the long term to our midfield but as a short term fix to turn things around he’d certainly do the job.

Stalk alert !!!!!!!! Love him or hate him I personally think we have missed Sinclair for his disruptive in your face no messing energy like that of an angry wasp. We seem to allow the opposition midfielders to much luxury of space to dictate the game to us when his influence is not around. He is probably just what we need right now to help the other players through this difficult patch until,we get all our injured players back. Here's hoping he's at least in the bench re Plymouth

I remember his best game for us was agains't Swindon at home. The first time (I think) he played at the point of the diamond. We definitely do miss his energy, there isn't another player like in our team. P.S was my spelling OK? The spelling police are out today...

I can remember him playing extremely well when we were on tv (against Gateshead I think) early in our conference season. I think he played in that role that night and he scored and got motm. I can remember the pundits that night raving about him.

If we're now at the point where we are missing Stuart Sinclair it just goes to show how weak this squad really is. Great guy and all that but a league 2 standard player at best - how many posters on here used to ridicule his game - could only pass sideways and back and that sort of stuff. All about opinions I know, but IMO for where we are now, a League 1 side, we shouldn't be missing him.

Just goes to show how DCs wasted some of the budget on players like Upson,Rodman if we are missing SS instead of the central defender we desperately need.

Even without the ball he does the jobs nobody else likes to do, and the opposition get pressured into making mistakes which brings others into the game and surely motivates others on the pitch.
Yes he isn't the creative of players, backwards and sideways like you say, but he doesn't give the ball away cheaply like we have seen the current midfield doing of late. You play him alongside some creative players because he is good at what he does.
Just check the opposition forums after he plays, most of them single him out as one of our better players.
Personally I would make him captain when he returns. He has more fight and determination in him than anyone.

IIRC we started the Gateshead game very poorly and were one down...DC then changed things by pushing SS further forward, following which he nabbed a goal and we got all three points. Was a great game.

Loved the amount of TV coverage we got that season!

The Beard is of course a modern legend, but if we are relying upon him to turn things around, then:
A) It's a big ask
B) It shows how poor this squad is
