This has nothing to do with them joining the league though! They voted against that already. So don't know why people keep making out, this is the same! This was a failing tournament anyway. Atleast or has brought in more money, when clubs need it and gives teams extra games. A chance for our own development player's, to get atleast 3 games. I'm in the minority, but I don't mind the changes! This is clearly an attempt to test the water and normalise the presence of U23/B teams in lower league competition. It's your choice whether you engage and support the competition, but you can't complain when we have to face Bristol City U23 in a competitive fixture. It would have to be voted in. If it gets voted in, it will be for financial reasons, not what happens in this tournament lol. Money talks, they won't vote it in because after few extra people turned up to watch a game.

Is there anything in the rules to say we can only use 1 keeper? We may have a chance with 2 keepers. Especially if it goes to a penalty shootout Em I’m not sure about that one, have you actually seen our other keeper play? Ok, 3 keepers then?

The perfect opportunity for Partington and Sinclair to get some game time tonight getting them ready for a first team return. Also Meyannse played for the development squad last week so he may feature as well. Would like to see the likes of Ruse get another chance plus those players who have spent the last few weeks on the bench, Rodman, Jakubiakat etc.
We still have to play some of the first team anyway as per the rules.

If you are happy for Premier League / Championship club under 23 sides to join the Football League, then that's your choice.
Just remember when we are playing City Development in 5 years time, that was the choice you made.

I doubt whether the fact HG goes tonight will make much difference in the grand scale of things, although as things stand us putting in a decent performance tonight to hopefully take forward to Saturday, seems far more important then what may or may not happen in 5 years time. the more people go, the more excuse they have for keeping the competition with U23 teams. Playing U23 teams becomes normal. The next step is obvious.

You have to be a proper superfan type to go to these games, personally I think the whole competition is a farce and a distraction from actual competitive matches.

Tbh I am not concerned about the result tonight as I am about the way we play and how we are set up, if the lads can put in a good performance tonight that could lift everyone for Saturday

I went to last seasons west ham game and they were easily one of the best teams we played. At least 2 of their players cost a big fee and declan rice played who was already in their 1st team. Whatever team we pick its a hard game and good test for any young players.
The clubs voted to keep the premier teams in the competition which for me makes a mockery of any so called boycott.

And it will be voted in if lower league clubs believe their supporters will accept and tolerate it. Those attending are sending out that message, like it or not. The attraction of fielding U23 teams would be considerably greater if real match experience was gained, with supporters a key ingredient in that.

They know supporters will never accept it in the league. In a nothing trophy, a lot can accept it. I would never want them in the league. It's a totally different situation.

Excellent from Bristol Live:
Good evening We’re in place at the Hawthorns for tonight’s game between Bristol Rovers and West Ham United’s under-21s side.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm tonight and we’ll have all the build-up across the next few hours.
Let’s get stuck into it!
