Genuine question - £600k 'ish' wasted on three Strikers - Nicholls - Payne & Mensah? That’s not a question is it? It’s an opinion. Far too early to judge Payne or Mensah, who by the way isn’t a striker, give them at least a bit of time before you come to such conclusions.

Payne seemed a decent striker at this level so even by Gaschat standards it's bit early to write him off, Mensah is getting game time at top of the table Lincoln so all is not lost.

Payne started well then had a couple of terrible games so 50/50 so far. Mensah didn’t look league 1 quality last season and probably isn’t yet but is young and has potential so I agree all is not lost on them. Reilly looks decent and the lad on loan does too so it’s only Nichols really who to be fair in terms of sale value compared to what we spent he’s a right off. I hope we start Reilly and Jak tomorrow or either of them with Payne.

Payne for me has a lot of making up to do, just on effort alone - really hope he hasn't got an attitude problem. I can't - measure the Mensah situation - out on loan and not getting much game time in a League 2 side.

Payne's goalscoring record isn't great at this level and Mensah has only played 39 minutes in total in League Two from a possible 450 minutes since he's been there. Hopefully more to come from both of them.

Tom Nilgols - clearly money down the drain - hopeless. Mensah - maybe the same, is his contract up in the summer? - unhopeful. Payne - still hoping.

Although a CF you'd hope he'd be a goal creator as much as a scorer. Mensah's played 22 mins in the last two games so seems to be making some progress, more than Slocombe who can't even make the bench now Lincoln's goalie has made an unexpectedly quick recovery from injury.

Genuine question - £600k 'ish' wasted on three Strikers - Nicholls - Payne & Mensah? One has no confidence, one is not fit or interested the other not ready at the moment.

Yes, not amazing but to be honest I’d snap your hand off right now if you offered me the same amount of goals from him this season.

In a way i think payne was a panic buy,we lost harrison but the owners didnt really want to use very much of the the harrison fee at all so we ended up with payne. Several posters telling us how great he was on here prematurely after a couple of games. I still believe payne can be an asset for us though if he can sort out whatever the hell the problem was v coventry and get on with playing.
mensah and nichols will be released at the end of the season in my view.

Yes, not amazing but to be honest I’d snap your hand off right now if you offered me the same amount of goals from him this season. Not a bad scoring record in this league. You could argue that the goals came playing for a team near the top of the league last season, but on the other hand, a lot of his appearances came from the bench. I don't know how many minutes he has played this season but he is already our highest scoring striker! Nichols has played a lot more and Riley cant be far off now.
