Lazy analysis. Posh are famous for hiring and firing rapidly. A team apparently offered quite a lot of money for a player that was hardly setting their team alight so they said 'fine'. Completely in keeping with the way they do business. If you aren't superman they let you move on. The supermen then get sold for millions and the whole system whirls. No lazy reading, I was referring to Posh not identifying Nichols was a CM not a striker. Problem is , he would be number 8 when it comes to central midfielders

Personally I would play 3 up front and play him on the right. If we are going one up front, or two up front then keep him on the bench

If we are going one up front, or two up front then keep him on the bench Sercs Lines or Upson OC Nichols Payne Bennett Which was the set up during Bodin's good spell before he departed? That for me puts our 6/7 best non defensive players on the pitch, Rodman can then replace Nichols or Bennett if we want to keep the same formation when we bring on a sub.

Listenning to DC's Barnet pre match interview it sounds like he definitely looks at Nichols and Payne as our first choice front 2.
He said that Reilly and Jakubiak were awful against Exeter and lost the ball every time it was played up to them. This meant our attacking moves constantly broke down, no real chances were created and we had to defend for almost the entire match.
He was angry after the game and told them so but did go on to say their character is good and he hopes they can learn and improve.
This is partly the point I was trying to make earlieer. Even IF one of them had managed to score a goal against Exeter it wouldn't make up for their poor all round play which resulted in us having to defend for 90 minutes. If your defence comes under that much pressure because your strikers can't keep hold of the ball they will undoubtedly concede more goals.

We've got to stop playing Nichols - simple. I know people will come up with all sorts of defences, but we can't carry this guy in one of the striker slots. Boom!!!

Our "strike force" (of which nilgols is the most regular and long-standing member) is an utter disgrace, tonight isn't even paper over the cracking canyon.

To be fair, he wasn't part of the problem, tonight.
There's a lot that needs to get sorted out before we need to worry about Nichols, atm.

Nichols found his level again tonight.
He now has 3 in 64 in all competitions. He has scored against MK Dons (in the season they finished 23rd), against Barnet and against West Ham U21!

Hahaha. Three goals in 63 games. A goal every twenty one games. Boom indeed. Dear oh dear. This. Some people really are deluded. When he scores at least 10 in league 1 for us, maybe just maybe some of you can do the old ‘I told you so’ routine.

Anyone who thinks that dropping Nichols is the answer probably doesn’t understand the question.

Anyone who thinks that dropping Nichols is the answer probably doesn’t understand the question. Is the question how to reduce the chance of Nichols scoring by 4% ? Because then the answer would technically be right wouldn't it?

How Jakubiak didn't get a start today is beyond me.

Nichols is a fair enough footballer and does have some decent attributes, but I'd love to see Rovers have a run of games without him in the squad, as I can't help but feel he is detrimental to our style of play. Oh and Jack Bonham is more likely to score than he is.
