Before their equalising free kick. So so so obvious it was going top left. I wanted to run on and tell midly to move to his right as it was probably one of the easiest free kicks their player will put away in his life. We literally set it up for him.
The game on the whole was dire. We were launching the ball from the first minute. Horrendous.
Aldershot actually knocked it around quite well in our third I thought. Better than we did in theirs anyway.
Only positives for me were trotmans solid performance and Taylor getting on the scoresheet.
Apart from that, it won't be long if it hasn't happened already that opposing fans will be asking how we are top 4!
Draw a fair result.

In all seriousness though, I wasn't at the game but it's extremely frustrating when you can sense what's going to happen from the terraces and you can't alter the situation. But hey that's being a football fan for you!

So obvious to everyone except the referee that it wasn't a free kick to start with.

So obvious to everyone except the referee that it wasn't a free kick to start with. any physical contact when the ball is on the floor seems to end up with a free kick, yet when there is a player being pushed and pulled on the arrival of a long ball the refs don't see it.... it strikes me that officials in this league can only make decisions on or around the ball and not off the ball, and this includes the offside rule too.... i'm finding it a bit bollox to be honest

What we have got to do is stop giving away free kick's in dangerous key area's. We keep doing it and we will keep throwing away precious point's. It's disappointing we cannot just keep possession better after going in front, instead we seem to go into panic mode.when other team's can shut up shop.

The sad fact is our team is quite poor with regard to retaining possession, in fact downright pathetic.
How does Parkes keep getting picked?
We were bloody awful today, and I genuinely think there is a big gap between this league and league two. We would be definite relegation candidates in league 2.
We must get in new front men or we may blow our best chance for the next few years.

We've now had 6 points from the last possible 12, and a few poor performances along the way. Not terrible, but not promotion form. So no time to be getting too carried away about playoffs. We've had a very good run and a now a current hiccup. Which could turn into a nasty cough if we don't sort out the goals for situation.
We're not scoring enough - certainly nothing like the number normally required in this league if we're to reach the playoffs. I agree we need some new front men because after 33% of the season, those we have aren't quite up to the job.

We're not creating enough chances for those strikers, and not playing to our strikers' strengths.
I think it is quite simple in this league. You need:
i) At least one creative midfield player ii) At least one quick wide player - someone who can scare a full-back iii) A beast up front - doesn't have to be the quickest iv) A nippy striker to play off him v) A solid Centre Back vi) A reliable Goalkeeper
I think that we potentially have iv) through vi). But I think we're missing the first three.

The last game i managed to get to was Southport away and that was pretty crap, but it seems to me we have been playing pretty poor and still not losing. They always say win your home games and draw away and your're a candidate for promotion but we havn't been playing well at home really. We will have to be at the races next Saturday cos FGR come to us on a 4 game unbeaten run now. Hopefully we will up our game to match a better side in this league. I cant believe im actually saying we have to up our game to beat FGR at home. I used to watch Yate play them in the Glocestershire county league. Bloody hell!!!

Good post. I think we need to act quickly as it looks like Sinclair will be out for some time with strained medial ligament damage. I see Ryan Harley is surplus to requirements at Swindon and has gone to Exeter to train ,this is exactly the type of creative midfield player we need.

Yes ,he is too good ,but if you don't ask you don't get. I am not sure if Exeter are still under a transfer embargo or maybe they are just skint. But he is available and is a local lad ,it's got to be worth a try.

From what I've seen so far this league is garbage, the football and the players and very poor and I don't think this league is very hard to get out of at all, I think we've been rubbish in the last 3/4 games and we still haven't lost.. If we click and start actually performing we could destroy teams, Im not sure we will tho, we don't even seem to try and play football, it's just long ball when we're on the ball and mass retreat when we're off it, I can't understand why we don't press teams more, I still think we can win this league with what we've got now but purely because every other team is so bad... What would this group be like in league 2? Dread to think

Doesn't Cunnington fit the bill for iii)? Not sure how beastly your ideal would have to be, but he is strong and not too quick!

Nowhere near strong enough.
Parkin is the nearest I've seen at this level this season.

Exactly, the only difference is that this league is poor enough for us to do it and still win games, I'm sure Clarke said we'd play a high tempo pressing game... What happened to that?? It seems to me like we accept that every team is gonna play better football then us so we sit deep... I just don't get it tbh

Post-match yesterday, DC said Sinclair might be back next week, but definitely available the week after if not.
