I agree, doesn't it remind you of a John Ward team ? And Darrell and the board were so critical of his colleague during the summer !? I'm sure Clarke said we'd play a high tempo pressing game... What happened to that?? It seems to me like we accept that every team is gonna play better football then us so we sit deep... I just don't get it tbh Yes, he did say that, but with the players he has assembled it is not possible to achieve this. We are desperate for a creative ball carrying Midfielder and he has yet to sign him. Until then it will be kick and rush hoofball i think ,but i agree with you ,this league is so bad any side even remotely organized stands a good chance of success.

I agree, doesn't it remind you of a John Ward team ? And Darrell and the board were so critical of his colleague during the summer !? Exactly, the only difference is that this league is poor enough for us to do it and still win games, I'm sure Clarke said we'd play a high tempo pressing game... What happened to that?? It seems to me like we accept that every team is gonna play better football then us so we sit deep... I just don't get it tbh To play a high tempo pressing game you need to have at least one of your central defenders to be quick. Parkes and Trottman aren't quick so we can't afford to push right up and play a pressing game. When DC said this he was probably thinking that we would be signing the kid with the broken arm who apparently is quick. If we started pressing up we would be punished by the long ball over he top. I haven't got a problem with the way we defend but what we need to do is get some of our players forward quicker when we attack. Looking up the pitch when we win the ball in defence we are still very static in our movement which invariably results in us just hoofing it up to Cunnington with no support. The wide players in particular need to be sprinting into space the second the ball is played up to AC but it's just not happening. 442 with a target man needs to be played at a quick tempo and our tempo quite slow. We don't need our defenders to press high up the pitch if we do we'll start conceding a lot more.
