Bout time we won games that actually matter... £20K winnings tonight, potentially another £30K for winning the next round, probably will matter when it comes to January, as that's probably an extra player's wages for half a season.

Bang on Topper, financially it’s got to be better than selling a few more sausage rolls. Fans can boycott, but the team needs to remain professional. Whoever we are playing , just keep knocking them over. Probably worth $300k all up if we lift Silver.

Dont get a boner thinking about winning it cos it wont happen, but any extra cash may just help to keep us up this season, well unless its all blown on a Dam great tent.

People on here saying the only teams we can be beat are a bunch of kids so why not put them in the league so we get some certain wins? The other plan that would put all this cra* to bed would be to get into the championship. The way the gap is increasing league one and two might as well be non league compared to the top 2 divisions anyway. Rovers still playing the likes of rochdale and gillingham after all these years is no better than playing west ham or chelsea under 21's as their all a sign of utter failure.

Each rare win people say this will give them confidence etc etc, then the next league showing is a water poor performance. I had a bad feeling about this season before a ball was even kicked but its even worse than I imagined. I've never seen such a poor disjointed DC team.

The football league is the oldest , best supported and most prestigious football league in the world and the FA are selling it’s soul for premier league money. We’ve pretty much always played the likes of Rochdale and gillingham in the league other than a handful of games against the likes of West Ham and Newcastle Chelsea etc. And as a leveller we’ve also played against Hartlepool , Wrexham altringham and Woking etc We’re historically a lower league club and I for one won’t be supporting the checkatrade cup in this form. It’s a shame because it was a decent little competition beteeen the bottom two divisions and we got decent crowds in the later rounds and took 40,000 to the final twice ( plus 80,001 locked out) You can call that utter failure if you like but it’s pretty much where we’ve always been since 1883 and that’s a very long time.

I agree that there was a gloomy mood even before the season started and nothing has happened since to raise morale. Every single home game in the league i thought the other team were better than us to be honest but your never relegated in december and there is still hope of avoiding relegation.

When i was 15 years old[1974] we got promoted into what is now the championship after several near misses and i thought wow here we go on our way to great things. But how very very wrong i was because despite being in a massive city with huge potential there was no money for "megsons marvels" and struggle followed by inevitable relegation followed. I played after that and didnt come back until 2001 just in time to see relegation into the bottom division. Point is nothing ever seems to change for bristol rovers and league one is getting left behind compared to the championship. Its not at all relevant how many we take to an odd final every so often if we only get 7,000 gates stuck in a poor league in a sh**ty ground in my opinion.

Thought we tried to play some passing football tonight, it didn't always come off, but at least we tried. Jakubiak took his goal really well.
I was impressed with their left footed centre back and captain Cian Harries and wouldn't mind seeing him here on loan at some point

The real truth is that if all the premier league under 21 teams didnt have numerous players out on loan they would beat all the league one and two teams at a canter. Were only playing against kids not good enough to get loaned out.

The real truth is that if all the premier league under 21 teams didnt have numerous players out on loan they would beat all the league one and two teams at a canter. Were only playing against kids not good enough to get loaned out. Swansea had Asoro (cost £2mil), Byers, Harries and Aaron Lewis who have played in the Championship and are good enough to get loaned out. Harries and Lewis would be good for us.

Not for me, especially this season, the trophy is a hindrance, we need players fit on a Saturday. Playing Swansea under 18s is no benefit to us when players are knackered.
If we were safe in the league I probably would say different. But to risk players on meaningless competition that benefit premiership clubs is almost suicidal for us.
