With Darrell Clarke departing his role as Manager of Bristol Rovers FC, Graham Coughlan will take temporary charge of the team commencing with the game at Sunderland on Saturday. Coaches Chris Hargreaves and Brian Dutton will also provide their support to the first team. Assistant Manager Marcus Stewart has asked to be released from his contract and the club have reluctantly agreed, therefore he leaves by mutual consent. The club would like to extend its thanks to Marcus for his service and wish him all the best for the future. The Board is expecting substantial interest in the vacant Manager’s role and an appointment will be made as soon as practicable. www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/2018/december/13.12.18-coughlan-charge/

Called it!
So they don't have anyone lined up......which means DC must have resigned surely? Not even this lot could be as shambolic as to give DC the boot during the busy Christmas run of games with no replacement lined up?

He clearly got on well with DC and believed in him. Substantial interest 😂😂

Remember, they purchased land for a training ground without even knowing how to pay for it, and haven't even submitted plans. That shows you how clueless they are.

Thank you for everything Marcus.
Staying loyal to Darrell asking to be released, sure he and DC will go on to greater success at a club with a much better infrastructure than us.

Clarke probably offered to take £25 less in his payout to go go before anyone lined up
So they took that instead of defrosting an additional six and a quarter sausage rolls

With him going so soon it wouldn't surprise me if they have another gig lined up in league 2 over the next few days. Notts County are due a sacking any week now.

Not saying he resigned but he was certainly very unhappy and as a man of principle would not let them walk all over him. NO inside info, just stating what I know about his general feelings and position.

Was he already at the club ? Just looked on wiki nothing about him since leaving Southend in 2013/14 Nothing about coaching or managerial experience .

More like one who was put in an untenable position by the lack of direction or backing (not necessarily just financial, but no-one in the club has supported him in any shape or form lately and have displayed shocking leadership in leaving him to deal with all the flak and be the only mouthpiece this club has had).
