Impressive start from the G-man. Really seems to have the boys fired up. Well played, sir!

At the current rate that history is being re-rewritten in 5 years time DC will be considered one of the worst managers in our history. McGhee Buckle Penney ....I could go back to an earlier decade to find more but do I need to....?

Happy days, we were quite fortunate to go in at ht leading, our midfield didn't get near them and their no9 was causing us big problems in the air, we struggled to get Holmes Dennis and Rodders in the game. Second half we upped our tempo and were much better, Upson, Rodders and my MoM Holmes Denis were great. We cut out the supply to their no9 And locks and Craig looked a lot more comfortable. Still weak in the fullback slots though. Pretty much how I saw it, although I thought our wingers still caused them lots of problems, first and second half. Both goals came from crosses from the flanks.

Particular highlight of mine yesterday was the Walsall fans singing "can you hear the Bristol sing?" immediately before we scored from the free kick. Sat them down and shut them up very quickly. Any idea of how many we took? I know we sold roughly 500 pre-match, but there seemed a lot more than there yesterday.

I think it was pretty evident things were going wrong from February and the form and points return since that time were really poor. I said at the beginning of Sept on here that I thought DC had 4 months to save his job and he failed to do that. I think its reasonable to suggest that something was very wrong behind the scenes that was effecting performances in recent times. That assumption was based on DC's demeanour in interviews and some of Chris Lines' comments in interview about the style of play. Whether DC lost the dressing room we wont know but the players attitude was affected by something. Particularly illustrated in the shambles at home to Barnet and the capitulation against Doncaster. Its been a few years since I've seen Rovers players as desperate to get off the pitch as they were against Doncaster I think there were other reasons for the points return from February. Losing Bodin, a run of injuries in midfield, tough run of fixtures. I must admit though, I had the same feeling around October that he might be gone by Christmas - I hoped not, but the writing was on the wall with the results and discord being expressed. I've clearly missed Lines' comments so not sure about that. Barnet was dreadful, I agree, as was Doncaster. None of us will know I guess, but I would guess it may have had something to do with the lack of harmony between DC and the board. His frustrations were pretty clear to see and it would be understandable if that were to filter down to the players. Hopefully people will look back over his tenure and realise that he was a bloody good manager who dragged this club back from the brink. Yes, it went wrong come the end, as it does for pretty much all managers, but he should be judged extremely favourably despite that. I wouldn't disagree with you there. I think he'd mentally gone beyond the point of no return at work and couldn't do right for doing wrong. I'm sure we've all had a boss at work that appears to have lost their way and is struggling under pressure. It's unsettling for employees and puts pressure on them which in turn affects their performance. I'm an ideal world he would have found a way to take time out but egos in football don't allow for that. He had been a really good manager for us however his performance in the last few months was poor in lots of ways and it couldn't be allowed to carry on. Both in the club and his own interests. Hopefully in time everyone will remember all the good he did for the club when it was most needed.

Interesting to note our upturn has coincided with him being in the team
Or, after DC left.......

I did not want DC to leave and dearly wish he was the one reaping the benefits of our upturn in fortune but i do believe he had become to bogged down in tactics and coaching and in the end couldn't see the wood for the trees (or is it the other way round!).some have said its the same players who are now doing it for the club but it isn,t is it?there were 3/4 players DC was incredibly loyal, to who consistently let him down ,others could see it and have made the required changes resulting in a change of mood around the camp and having the desired effects.Anyone play Golf? well its the same thing you can get so bogged down with instruction and theories that you cant play, when all you need to do is get out there and hit the f... ing thing!Hope dc is having a good break ,clearing his head of to much theory and comes back some where doing what he was so good at before he got all those coaching badges!good luck to him and well done Rovers,GC and co for giving us a good Christmas and renewed optimism, reckon we could end up with 12 from 4!our season begins at Christmas again! as some one said 1/2 season tickets is beginning to sound ever more the way forward !!!!!!come on you blues!
