Your 33 was easily the best player on the pitch. Big bloke but very mobile and read the game well. Wish we had him in our midfield!

Jakubiak 8.5 - What a work horse!!
Nichols NOLE Payne NOLE Sercombe 7 - Battled hard when he came on
Ref 8 - Best for a while Walsall 6 - Not the worse team I have seen Crowd 10 - Gas crowd was fantastic, Walsall hmmm
What a difference! Players seem to know what they are doing, confidence is high! Fair play to the manager! Sorry but the players were baffled by previous tactics! UTFG!!

If he only knew what some on here were calling him only three weeks ago. It would appear that the footballer we signed is now flourishing when given the opportunity to do so.

Transfer window dealings will be from a relative position of strength. Expect a few to go out on loan and if we lose Bonham then reckon Slocombe will be recalled.

Although on the bench for Lincoln in their last game, Slocombe was not involved at all today. It would appear that Lincoln are quite happy with Vickers and his deputy Smith.

Bonham not a lot to do saves wise, didn't come for crosses like he was before today though J. Clarke 6 not a fullback for me but can't fault his attitude or effort Lockyer 7 didn't win much in the air first half much better second half Craig 7 as above Kelly 5 got the run around first half by their wide player got more protection second half, not sure he's good enough but only young. Rodman 8 best i've seen him play and great goal Upson 7 much better second half, put himself about and good passing, good delivery and great effort on goal from a clever corner routine O. Clarke 5 hardly touched it first half but better second half like most of them Holmes-Dennis 8.5 the lad has quality hope he can stay fit, lovely finish too Reilly 6.5 worked hard but not as much a goal threat as against Fleetwood Jakubiak 7 led the line and never stopped running, great work to set up HD for his goal Subs: Sercombe 6 came on and looked good until moved out wide, helped Kelly well though Nichols nole Payne nole Crowd 8 Ref 6 Walsall 6 looked good first half when we let them play, closed them down much better second half and they didn't look the same.

Rodman and Holmes Dennis were both superb today. Finally we have some genuine width to the side, not just a right footed central midfielder stuck out on the left, like Sercombe was under the previous manager. It was a pleasure to watch.

Bonham 7 - fairly assured. Maybe footwork could have been better for the goal. J Clarke 7 - typical battling JC display we take for granted. Kelly 6 - the obvious weak link unfortunately, poor distribution and got skinned a few times. Nice assist though. Lockyer 7* - important early goal Craig 7* - read the game well Holmes-Dennis 8 - improving every game and learning the new position. A great asset. Wouldn’t be surprised though to see him rested on Saturday as he’s had a lot of football after a long spell out. O Clarke 6.5 - worked hard as always Upson 8 - his best performance in a rovers shirt for me. Reilly 6.5 - worked hard but didn’t influence the game a great deal. Seems a bit lost in the withdrawn 10 role when he’s a penalty box striker. Rodman 8 - much more like it. Nice and direct. Cracking hit for the goal. Jakubiak 9 - MOM. Unplayable at times, worked the two centre halves all day and allowed them no peace. The best centre forward display I’ve seen in a rovers shirt in 2018. Was a bit of a throwback to the Jason Roberts days.
Subs - all NOLE but all worked hard and filled the gaps. At 3-1 it was just about keeping shape and didn’t have much of the ball.
Ref - 6 couldn’t see how it was a foul for their free kick before the goal. Walsall - 5. Crowd 9
*Craig and locks lost so many important headers, not saying it’s their fault as Cook is a handful and had about 5 inches on them.. At this level though we do need a commanding, 6ft 3+ first ball centre half. Walsall are a footballing, possession based team and that was their undoing as they overplayed.

Results in and Alex Rodman was Man of the Match with a score of 8.67. This is his first MotM and his highest rating yet. The lowest score by any player in this game was 6.7, the 4th highest lowest score ever in these threads, if that makes sense. Only FGR PO second leg (6.8), Dagenham (7.3) and Northampton (the 0-6) (7.0) did all players also score more than 6.7. The referee rating of 7.7 was higher than any this season, the highest for a League One game in these threads and the joint 8th highest overall in these threads. The last rating for referee higher than this was the 8.5 given for the referee in the Dagenham game. So, well done Robert Lewis. This was stevek192's 200th Player Rating for league game in these threads. This is out of the 211 games played in this period. The next most number of ratings by a poster is 117. Bonham 7.3 J. Clarke 7.0 Lockyer 8.0 Craig 7.7 Kelly 6.8 Rodman 8.7
Upson 8.0 O. Clarke 7.6 Holmes-Dennis 8.5 Reilly 7.0 Jakubiak 7.8 Subs: Sercombe 6.7 Nichols NOLE Payne NOLE Crowd 9.0 Ref 7.7 Walsall 6.2
