Walsall, Leyton Orient and Chesterfield eyeing up moves Source? That's a blow if true - but would mean a fee. Given his injury history I wouldn't be DEVASTATED, but it would still be a shame to see him go as - if he can stay fit - he would be a huge talent at this level. There's a very good chace we could have a huge wage and transfer buget this season - money from Lambo, Brunt, JJ(?), Smith and possibly Lee Brown.... IF DC is capable of spotting talent, we could very easily end up with a ridiculously good squad this season. Perhaps promotion at the first time of asking won't be as unlikely a task as it would have been even a couple of weeks ago....

In the paper this morning, assume it'll start doing the rounds online shortly. Big blow IMO. Really thought this could be his season - with us. But if we are offered a fee DC is going to struggle to justify not accepting it since he's probably never even seen him play before. Like you say if he can spend this money wisely (and even if it isn't all of that income, he WILL have a big budget), we could return first time. Or at the very least have a good team to watch. I do trust Clarke - and I think he's going to be looking at some very decent players. I'm sure he's going to take some risks too, eg. Taaffe. Let's hope the majority come good, it's unrealistic to believe every one of his 10+ signings will be a hit but I'm sure overall he's going to get it right..... I hope.

Agreed mate The fact he's looking at talent from below us (up and coming) rather than just above us on their way down is very promising in itself. Personally I'd be on the phone to Halifax this morning. I'm sure he'll want league football, but we should be able to offer him an excellent deal (better than most League Two clubs from a financial perspective) given the Lambo money, Brunt etc etc. Nothing to lose by trying!!

It would be nice to keep Brunty and Lee Brown too, but if they did go it would just be one of those things. Smith, Mildenhall and Lockyer would be huge losses though.

www.westerndailypress.co.uk/Bristol-Rovers-striker-Brunt-tracked-clubs/story-21164440-detail/story.htmlBristol Rovers striker Ryan Brunt is being eyed up by a trio of League One clubs.
Walsall, Leyton Orient and Chesterfield are among the outfits understood to be interested in the Birmingham-born forward, who was 21 earlier this week. Brunt managed only 13 league and cup appearances for Rovers last season and failed to find the net before his season was ended in November by a knee problem, which eventually required surgery. But he scored five times in 18 outings after joining on a three-year deal from Stoke City in January 2013 and was pivotal in helping the side move away from the relegation zone in that campaign. Brunt was at the Memorial Stadium earlier in the week in a bid to build up his fitness, and is also to pay for a trip to America to receive specialist treatment before the players report back on June 30. The target-man, who had a spell with Bristol City's academy as a youngster before joining Stoke City, spent six months on loan at Leyton Orient two seasons ago, netting three times in eight league starts with a further ten appearances from the bench. Chesterfield, who lifted the League Two title last season, were keen on landing the striker shortly before he joined Rovers and are now set to rekindle their interest. Walsall boss Dean Smith is also believed to have Brunt on his radar and may look to bring the player back to his roots in the Midlands. Rovers, meanwhile, are to hand a trial to Concord Rangers striker Lewis Taaffe. Very surprised in this, massive gamble for a league 1 side to take! Imagine if we looked at signing a striker with a modest scoring record and horrendous injury history! All hell would break lose especially as a fee would be required.
Sad to see him go as others have said but I have faith that Clarke can bring in players of a good standard, who aren't permanently in the treatment room.

Would be sad to see him go as I think he will be a very good striker at Conference level. But I guess that is what is attracting the attention of league clubs as well.
Would also be a bit dissapointed in that we have paid him for a season whilst he has been injured and then he jumps ship when someone comes knocking for him. Although what player wouldn't go from a Conference to League 1 club if the oppertunity arose.
Clarke has a mssive rebuilding job on his hands.

So we pay his wages for a year so he can jump ship at the first opportunity? Would be nice if he stuck it out for a season. He's only young and if he has a good season he can go regardless.

Glad to see the back of him tbh. Another who has taken advantage of our flimsyness when it comes to signing injured players. Few games to earn a deal then straight on the treatment table. Waste of money.

Waste of money. Wow. I very much doubt he went on the treatment table out of choice!! He paid for his own rehabilitation in America! Doubt he'd have done that unless it was required!!

He probably knew a couple of Div 1 sides were interested before he decided to fly off to the states, although does a pro footballer really need to leave the UK to get rehab?? It all seems a bit odd to me how a mystery knee problem can keep him out for virtually a full season and then apparently have 3 higher league clubs chasing him before he's even proved his fitness.

Well I don't buy it. Virtually a year injured, getting paid and rehabbed by us. Then fit enough to be considered for lg1? We are our own fools for taking the gamble in the first place.

However, my understanding was that it was a cruciate knee injury? They can often take around a year to heal. IMO, what's more likely is that he genuinely was injured all season but, now that he has recovered and given we are a non-league side, his agent has put some feelers out in order to see if any clubs higher up the pyramid are interested. It's even possible that Brunt asked him to do so. Either way though, personally I don't doubt he was injured and that he has only just recovered.

We need players here who want to be here and are genuinely committed to the cause.personally I think he owes us a season at least.

I'll be gutted to see him leave. He's a striker who can play the ball on the ground and mix it in the air. He would have got 30 goals easily in the Conference. A knee injury always takes time to heal. It speaks volumes that League 1 clubs are interested in him even though he's been out so long.
