Haha this is where we see everyone turn from fuming about not signing anyone, to fuming about who we’ve signed before they’ve even seen him play. We've seen names like Hylton, Pitman and Harrison banded about...and then we sign this lad. No disrespect to him but on paper we needed so much more than a young serial loanee. I'm more sad about all our signings having a link to Coventry- we dodged a bullet with Bakayoko. All our staff are from Plymouth and all our players have been touched by the hand of Cov. It's so lazy and uninspiring- budget signings from a budget manager and HoR presided over by a budget President. This is the best they could do in 31 days. Have a think about that. My thoughts exactly, it's not just today, they have had a month plus all the time preparing. It's a joke. Speaks volumes.

So this guy - is the tall target man - he's certainly powerful and puts himself about - defenders won't like playing against him. I think he's had some games in The champ with Rotherham ?? might be wrong about that. Locks will know him - they played against each other in FA Youth Cup a few years back - I'm are Locks found him a handful even then.

Most players who are deemed not good enough usually aren't good enough. Let's not forget the stick Matty got because he had something like 1 goal in his first 15 games with us. We don't have 15 games to let someone find their goalscoring boots. He was on loan with them last season before they signed him permanently in the Summer so they obviously saw something in him. He’s scored as many league goals as the rest of our strikeforce put together so far this season. I think deciding he isn’t good enough before he’s even put the shirt on is a bit harsh on the lad. I'll never write a player off before they've kicked a ball for us but I do feel very disappointed that this is the best the club could come up with. We are weaker now than at the start of the window.

Scored 6 in 28 and also scored against Sunderland this season as well as Luton. 6ft striker with strong physique and pace, should work well with Nichols or Reilly. Also played around 60 odd games in the Championship. UTG Any signing is only a good or poor signing once they’ve been given a chance to show us what they can do. Welcome to the club Johnson , although we don’t like that name here, I’m going to call you Clarke. Welcome to the Gas Clarke.

With Payne and Bennett gone - Im more optimistic. Will reserve judgement on Ogogo and JCH. UTG !

We can only sign the players that actually want to come here, so, not always our fault, but he cannot be any worse than Payne, and for that we must be thankful

A mate of mine who’s a Coventry fan reckons he’s very good and is appalled they’ve let him go. I know it’s not much to go off but it’s given me a bit of encouragement.

Rotherham paid 350,000 for him he scored 10 goals for them, not that it is difficult but an improvement on what we have.

If he doesn't seem to have his feet nailed to the ground and a bag of cement in his shorts then he should be an improvement on the sham footballer that was Payne. Hopefully Shrewsbury will cancel the remaining payments for that colossal waste of space and keep him for good. One of the worst signings we've ever made, and that includes the disaster areas that were Mickey Evans, that useless Scotsman whose name I can't remember and even, involuntary shudder, Alvin Bubb! Is the Scotsman Martin Cameron? Yes he was awful, had a great scoring record up in Scotland before joining us, then for us was utter pants.

We are weaker now than at the start of the window. Weaker on paper, maybe stronger in the dressing room? The Bakayoko obsession, any real evidence we wanted him other than a rumour in here subsequently picked up by the EP? Hoping this lad comes off, could be what we’ve missed since Ellis left and Payne couldn’t replicate. Up the effin Gas Edit ☝️ bad quote skills

As with ALL signings ..... pass judgement after they’ve played at least 10 games minimum. I remember people raving about that Donkey Payne after a game or two and also others slagging of Lambert as nothing but a fat slow midfielder to start.

His record in all competitions:
108 starts 105 from the bench Total: 213 appearances.
Scored a total of 34 goals.
Averages 1 goal in just over every 6 games.
Add that to the records of... Reilly: who has scored just 2 league goals this season. Nichols: who has scored 1 league goal this season (a penalty). Jaks: who has scored 2 league goals this season (both in 1 game).
... Then on paper, we are in deep trouble.
Hopefully he does better for us than what he has done elsewhere else.
Something tells me though that he was not signed to improve the squad to be a regular starter. He will be our 4th choice striker so doubt he will get much of a look in. Meaning the club has massively failed in this window and it will be a miracle if we survive this season.

Looks an improvement on Payne ... ok it’s only a highlight reel but good shooting boots and can Head a ball.
Time will tell.

A few headed goals there - this is what we are desperate for ? all our corners and free kicks have been heading practice for the opposition this season. Hopefully, this might change now.

Another thing to bear in mind is that he is still only 24. It took us a long time to get Harrison to perform consistently and score goals so the same could be true of Clarke Harris. A few Coventry fans saying they are annoyed to be losing him too, so it isn’t all bad.

If Coughlan wanted a big lad I'd have been on the phone to Gillingham today about Eaves. Out of contract in the summer. 200k+ bid on the last day of the window to test their resolve.
Mind you I guess we haven't got the money until the supporters club can release the millions that Hani is dying to invest.

Firstly good luck to the lad, he will need it. Secondly, I wonder what number he was on our wanted list? IMHO probably not even on it! The whole thing stinks, a cheap desperation signing as far as I am concerned. No coincidence for obvious reasons, both signings today came from Coventry, good business for them. They have managed to dump two unwanted players on us. A loyal totally underwhelmed Gashead, Wael you should be ashamed, you are a cheapskate owner and I am very sad you have now proved to me what others have been saying for ages.
