Shrewsbury 5 high tempo and pressing and wanted it more than us, especially first half. Played the ref better than us and their game management (NOT cheating) was better than ours.

Bonham: 6. Little to do, bit isn't quite as reassuring as he was.

Partington: 3.5. Unnecessary booking restricted him to a poor game. Don't mind Joe at all, but why James Clarke has been dropped is beyond me.
Lockyer: 8. Excellent leader's performance today.
Craig: 7.5. So consistent.
Holmes-Dennis: 7.5. Poor first half but excelled in the second. Quality signing who I feel may have brought the best out of Bennett had we not offloaded him.

Rodman: 7. Poor first half and improved in the second.
Ogogo: 4. I can only assume he was better at Southend! Lucky to stay on the pitch.
Lines: 6. Some good moments (including the cross for the goal) and the only one who tried to play proper football in the first half, but he's not having a good season. Our only creative player though so has to play, particularly at home.
Sercombe: 5. If this was his first season here, he'd be crucified as a poor signing. Should have scored.

Nichols: 5. Harsh to mark him low as every 'pass' to him was 5 feet over his head.
Reilly: 5. Ditto Nichols.

Clarke-Harris: 7.5. Very encouraging. Won more headers and ran further than Payne has all season. If he has goals in him he could be a good signing. Shpuld have started.
Jakubiak: 7. His pace and directness may make him a good partner for JCH.
Clarke: 6.5. Consistent. Should start.

Ref: 1. Dreadful. Lacked bottle to send off Norburn, Ogogo and the Shrew who was out of control in a shocking 2nd half tackle. Partington could have gone too and but I thought the guy who did see red was a tad unlucky.
Shrews: 5. Poor, timewasting, cynical, divers. But we weren't good enough to beat them.
GC: Shocking tactics...why just lump it all day when we have two small strikers? Commitment is all well and good, but we need to get the ball on the deck to stand a chance of staying up. When we do that, we're not a bad side. Trouble is, we do it for 10 minutes a game, at home at least.

Bonham 5.5 Don’t seem so assured, thought the goal took a slight deflection

Partington 3 Terrible game
Lockyer 5 Steady game but distribution poor
Craig 7 Usual steady game with no thrills, distribution let him down on occasions.
Holmes-Dennis 5.5 Not one of his best games, but has quality

Rodman 5 Scored but can do a lot better
Lines 3 Poor game, not very influential overall
Ogogo 3 Disappointing, probably expected a lot more from him
Sercombe 6 Could have scored, better second half in the middle

Nichols 5 Did not have any decent service. Would like to see him with Clarke-Harris, as he has quality

Crowd 5 Another load of rubbish to watch, still backing the team

Ref 1.5 Very weak throughout the game, and never in control, he must had taken up 30 minuets talking to or being surrounded by players appealing about is decisions and played right into the players from both teams hands with his weaknesses,
Shrewsbury 5 They came and never allowed us to play by pressing and were quicker to the ball especially in the F/H and allowed to time waste at every opportunity, but overall just about better than us when they decided to actually play football.

Bonham- 5, my confidence in him is fading week after week lately, the amount of times yesterday he should of came for crosses and didn’t was infuriating, the lack of communication between him locks and Craig will get us caught out, set himself incredibly high standards since he’s been here

Partington-4, normally a fan of partington but yesterday was his worst for us IMO, looked very week defensively and offered us no attacking option, disappointed.
Lockyer-6 still too much hoofball but to be fair to him and Craig kept their CF quiet and he’s been in form lately

Holmes-Dennis-6.5 played well, attack’s well and was good defensively yesterday, I hope he stays injury free

Rodman-6 took his goal very well but wasn’t his best game, looked abit timid to run at them at times
Lines-6.5 tried to actually play a game of football out there yesterday even though Shrewsbury to their credit tried to stop him quite effectively, I don’t understand the comments on him being past it, the amount of times he has the ball and looks up to see our players almost hiding behind opposition players is a joke, the thing he is guilty of most is playing with players who don’t have the footballing brain to show or make runs for easily one of the best passers in this league
Ogogo-5, don’t want to sound too harsh on him but this was my first viewing of him, tried to battle but was ruffled by Shrewsbury from the first minute and I think he was maybe guilty of trying to hard on his own debut, could of easily recieved his marching orders after kicking out a norburn in the first half right in front of the dugouts/fourth official, IMO is not as good a O Clarke and home games still should be Clarke and lines as CM
Sercombe-5, frustrating as he isn’t a winger and you can see him always drifting into the centre, missed the best opportunity for us

Reilly-5 too lightweight to play against big defenders like shrews have along side Nichols would probably be better with Clarke-Harris
Nichols-5 as above really but can’t see him working well with Clark-Harris as unfortunately he is a CF who doesn’t try and force goals for him self!

Subs: Jakubiak-6 him and Clarke-Harris changed the game for us, we actually looked attacking when they came on, and all be it I understand Coughlans mentality of rewading winning players, I can’t help but feel he should of done his research and seen the big shrews team and adjusted for it, but it’s easy in hindsight for me to say!
Clarke-Harris-7 I for one was very impressed, he was an absolute battering ram, won everything in the air and was a menace from the second he came on, won the free kick for the goal and as a defender myself couldn’t think of playing against a worse type of CF, has to start next game with one of the others
J. Clarke-5, tried but was very careless with his runs and gave the ball carelessly at times, feel sorry for him as he was brilliant at the start of the season but has been dropped out of it, better defensively than partington(going by yesterday’s game)

Crowd-6 glad the ref was rubbish as it fired us up abit! Still feel the team and players are too quiet when decisions aren’t going for us
Ref-2 awful for both sides to be honest could of sent a couple of players off but wheather that was because he lost control of the game I don’t know
Shrewsbury-5, certainly not the worst team we’ve played but sh*thouse tactics of killing the game with time wasting, even in the first twenty minutes when they were well on top the keeper was wasting time, they looked like they were up for it yesterday, and in some cases a lot more than some of our own players, still think there’s a few more twists and turns left in this season and that it will go down to the wire, but my god I don’t think I can take much more stress!!
