What was your first away day, and what was your experience like?
Apart from Ashton Gate, which like a lot of us, I imagine, was my first ever time watching us away from home, Leicester City at Filbert Street in the 1970s was mine.
Although they'd been much more successful than us, the stadium wasn't massively better than Eastville. We took about 2,000 there and sung our hearts out the whole match. A dull 0-0 draw, but a great experience.

Exeter City (I think it was 1984). My dad was concerned about trouble so took me into the home end on the quiet. I recall there was a bit of restlessness in the away end and we went on to win 2-1(?)

Gillingham 27 Mar 1982. Lost 2-0. About 17 of us went in a transit van and we took less than 100 in total. Before the match Bobby Gould personally thanked us all for travelling. Ended up getting a train back from London to Bristol for some reason.

Hereford united 1977. Drew 1-1 i remember dozens of rovers fans being ejected from the game. It seemed like every a few minutes they were ejecting another rovers fan even a fan using crutches... Was at the game with my Dad and brother wow! 42yrs ago

Oldham athletic in a 4-4 draw. 3-0 down and 4-3 down but kept fighting back. Since then I was hooked on away days!

I think it was either the Manor Ground or Elm Park, neither of which are now still being used.

Mine was a League Cup game at Plymouth. It was an early round and we were down there on holiday. August 1974. Lost 1-0.

1981 away to Reading at Elm Park. Won 3-0. Remember the trouble, more than the game. Police went wading in to sort it out, and within a few seconds, there were police helmets being chucked about like frisbies.

8th of April 89 Swansea 1 gas 2..... Penrice and Bailey I think.... the away end at the vetch was horrible. Dark, damp, and surrounded with metal spikes. They even put the programme seller in a cage....

City away league two 1957 lost 3-2. City away in FA cup the same season we won 4-3. First other team away was Cardiff away that same season went on train with my grandad and we won 2-0. Although my memory can remember the results, I have got the scores from Google. Must be something to do with my age?
