Newport county March 16 1982 1-1, mickey Barrett had a goal disallowed for offside apparently. Went there with my uncles and brother, I was 7 I was at that game as well, Micky cut in from the left wing and hit a screamer into the far right top corner only for it to be disallowed because Archie Stephens was stood in an offside position. Crazy decision!

Ashton about 75, night game ended 2-2, dad took me in the bloody eastend, never said a word all game, totally rammed and could hardly see anything, much like being in the south stand at eastville 73 and 74, plucked up the courage to go into the tote soon after,at least i could see all the pitch.

Watford 1973/74 season. I was impressed to see that they also had a dog track around the pitch.

What was your first away day, and what was your experience like? Apart from Ashton Gate, which like a lot of us, I imagine, was my first ever time watching us away from home, Leicester City at Filbert Street in the 1970s was mine. Although they'd been much more successful than us, the stadium wasn't massively better than Eastville. We took about 2,000 there and sung our hearts out the whole match. A dull 0-0 draw, but a great experience. Remember the first 10/15 minutes of the Leicester game then........i got nicked, accidentally went in the wrong side in their end of ground from what i remember both sets of fans were next to each other, well maybe not quite by accident but hey ho it was the 70s after all.

Watford 1973/74 season. I was impressed to see that they also had a dog track around the pitch. I only saw the second half of that game. We led a sheltered life in North Somerset so a visit to London was the chance to enlighten ourselves. After a lunchtime visit to a Soho establishment we found the Austin 1100 had been parked illegally and towed to a compound at the Elephant & Castle. There followed a hectic scramble across the capital and, with no credit cards in those days, a whip round to pay the release fee and set off North for the match. It was 0-0 I think ?

Hereford, was a riot as soon as we arrived Then Fulham coach left us there, but also before that a special mention for the away game at trashton before Dolman was built, flag poles getting snapped in open end, outside was mayhem chased them all over Ashton park dustbins flying through the air in streets hot dog van turned over, also remember a night match down there when both sets of fans more or less met in the middle of the pitch, not trying to glorify it or anything but that was the way it was in those days all young lads venting off, sorry if it offends anybody but great times with cracking atmospheres in the grounds UTG !

Peterborough in 1964 on the Supporters Club coach with the amazing Gordon Bennett. No idea how or why it came about but it seemed to take forever (and probably did pre-motorways). We lost 3-1. My mum gave me a right telling off for not telling her where I was other than I was with my mate Pete (brother of the lovely Jane later to be Jane Browne, our first Supporters Club director on the board. I think it was early in the season and on a funny day of the week? Possibly a school day? Memory says we played the return only a week or so later and thrashed them 4:0? Maybe one was a cup game but the league did funny things around then in Third Division. It was a couple of years before I managed another away game - QPR at a run down Loftus Road but great football. Still enjoy away games last one being Oxford on my motorbike - much quicker but do like the camaraderie on Supporters Club coaches so try to fit in at least a couple each season (and I can have a proper drink!) as opposed to total abstinence on the bike.

24th Feb 1990. The Vetch. 0-0 draw against Swansea. As I recall it was awful, Holloway missed a penalty and it rained a lot.

Despite wearing as much Rovers clothing as possible, my dad and I were directed by stewards to the family enclosure with the Swansea fans rather than the away terrace.

Pretty sure mine was the Huddersfield Playoff final at proper Wembley. Been a glory hunter ever since. A glory hooter, surely?
