We fought hard tonight but were beaten by the better team,i enjoyed the game more than the league game, for me both teams played better this time. Their midfield was quick and sharp ours was pedestrian and predictable, ollie clarke and ed upson were dreadful. Holmes-dennis was excellent,clarke-harris and nichols lively. Yes agree with all that. Sunderland were much more fluid when they attacked. Some of our midfielders got in each others way - as GC said we had no natural wide players and it showed when we tried to attack them. really enjoyed the first half though until the goal

Without him we would be relegated by now, Way better than shagger and Smith Yea I can agree that he is better than what we got but goalkeepers are expected to make saves and I just feel people were not used to seeing this so thought bonham was the messiah. Do you really think bonham is better than joe lumley?I don't. but Bonham, overall, has had a good season with us - would be a very good signing for next season.

Do you really think bonham is better than joe lumley? No and Nigel Martyn was better But sadly none of them belong to us, so we will have to make do with him at the moment

So if TN was converted to a Midfield attacking player would that make you feel better and play as a 4-2-3-1 format ?

We battled hard but but Sunderland outplayed us with a degree of ease.
We often shoot ourselves in the foot with our failure to close down players on the edge of our box, yesterday was no exception. Sunderland did it superbly, with Sercombe constantly thwarted as he tried to wind up to shoot. Instead we backed off and waited for Sunderland to pick their passes and shots.
Another frustration was how our front two spent so much time out on the wings meaning we never really had a threat even when in a position to cross.
Disappointing display after saturday but the changes didn't help Ogogo was missed and Partington is not as one dimensional as James Clarke. Sadly in front of the cameras Tom Lockyer's weaknesses were on full display, an appalling free header sent over the bar and some atrocious distribution. On the otherhand Craig hardly put a foot wrong.
The star of the show however was THB a great footballer who from fullback was our best outlet.
Sunderland were much better than they played in the league, not a premiership team as I keep reading but far too good for Div 1.

Personally I thought we played well, just not good enough to beat a strong Sunderland side that would likely hold their own the the Championship.
Our passing was better than it often is and we were trying to keep it on the deck whenever possible.
I thought every player gave it their all and many gave an excellent performance.
If we can play to that level with that intensity in our remaining 12 games we still have a decent chance of staying up.

its true. were cowards for supporting our team? Well boycotters have been told they aren't Rovers supporters many times over the last few days. To be honest this whole debate has been done to death. I'm glad we can forget about it until next season.

I thought the same, during it I couldn't think of much else we could have done differently (subs/formation wise) to effect the game. We were up against a team with far better players than ours at the end of the day, and they are paid accordingly so.

What would make me feel better is TN do what he's supposed to do and score goals, I just can't see a role for him playing deeper as Sercs, when he's on form, suits that role better. Hopefully JCH keeps on scoring then we will get away with it this season, if not, our lack of goals could cost us our Div 1 status.

Sunderland were much better than they played in the league, not a premiership team as I keep reading but far too good for Div 1. First half was pretty even and even Sunderland legend Michal Gray on Sky felt we were slightly the better side. The second goal really killed us and we visibly wilted. We have to remember we were up against a good side littered with expensive, championship standard players so overall we acquitted ourselves reasonably well. i agree about standing off on the edge of the box. For me, I think because of Craig's lack of pace we drop very deep, very early leaving a lot of space for the midfield to cover. The strikers splitting wide is something that frustrated me under DC. I think the intention for that last night was for Sercs to attack that space but that never really materialised. Totally disagree about Craig hardly putting a foot wrong. For the first goal Grigg just wandered away from him and that space was all he needed to get his shot away. The second goal Bonham parried it straight to him, he should have been favourite to clear the rebound but was on his heels allowing the player to nip in and score.

He'd be off to City for £300k

Complete disagree about Craig. He was responsible for both goals. Wasn't it Sercombe who gave away possesion for their 2nd? It was definately Sercombe wide on our left in front the west enclosure. Played a sideways pass across our half and straight to their player.

We were beaten by a better team who were 100% better than they were in the league match, as were we! Definitely matched them in the first half, but conceded at bad times. When I predicted a draw, I think it was definitely a heart over head thing. I agree that Stewie gives his all for the shirt, but I think his time on the field is starting to come to an end. We missed Ogogo last night. I think he would have maybe harassed their midfield and not allowed them the time to play it around like they did, setting an example for the others? As other posters say, if we go into the last 12 playing the way we did for the first half last night and against Blackpool, we'll stay up! UTG!!

Wasn't it Sercombe who gave away possesion for their 2nd? It was definately Sercombe wide on our left in front the west enclosure. Played a sideways pass across our half and straight to their player. And it was Sercombe who was asleep at the throw in that led to the first goal. Grigg's movement was exceptional though and would have done for any centre half in this league. That's what £4m gets you. I didn't realise at the time but would agree that Craig was at fault for the second though.
