Been wondering about this for a while, since I think the guy is extremely talented. But I haven't really seen him being linked to many jobs as managers are sacked, I think the best odds were 12-1 for Luton. So my question is: What level of team do you see realistically signing him? What team do you think could do with him? As a manager, how high do you think he will go? For me, I think, given they are relegated, Bradford would be a great choice. A team which has the capacity to rapidly improve. Bradford I agree but already appointed Bowyer. He should wait for a big underperforming club IMO.

Absolutely love DC but any suggestion of the Luton job is just scandalous.
His next role will be NL or L2, especially if we go down as like it or not his poor recruitment in L1 is part of his legacy.

Can't only be me that thinks National League is a massive step down for DC? I know people talk about his transfer policy in last few windows but on paper he signed excellent players. They just didn't perform. like Saltford Blimey! I know he had a bad 2018 but the Somerset County League is a bit of a drop.

I think you're being very harsh. He managed back to back promotions and with largely the same squad then achieved back to back mid table finishes in League One. He clearly made mistakes this season but a lack of resource and losing his best players in a succession of transfer windows killed any hope of kicking on. Out of of interest did you blame DC for our relegation to the conference rather than John Ward? Anyone that does is again being unfair - can't have it both ways, I.e blamed for taking an already relegation threatened side down but then also getting the blame for another relegation several years down the line when having been relieved of his duties six months before the end of the season.

I agree. When we had our two mid table league 1 finishes most of us acknowledged there was still a big chasm to the top of the table sides and that we had overachieved. Factor in the loss of major players for us (Snake, Bodin, Ellis, Brown) then it’s hardly much of a surprise that we have struggled. The fact is that if we stay up this year we will probably struggle again next year unless anything major changes.

He obviously negotiated a pittance transfer clause on Matty Taylor. And then he failed to secure bodin to a longer contract when we went up to league one. And Harrison I just feel we got a good deal because he isn’t that great but he spent this money on stef Payne 😂

DC's failing was recruitment not selling, plus GC seems to be getting more out of the players but how knows if DC manufactured is departure as he'd get sick of the owners, just a pity we can't do the same trick!

Some things he will have to carry the can for but pretty sure MT isn’t one of them. Was it up to DC to sort out the BB contract? I don’t know. What he found difficult to do and what he didn’t do was replace them with better players and that’s why we are much weaker this season. UTG!

Disagree, otherwise we would be in the top half of the table and he would still be employed So wherever a manager is when he was last sacked represents his level? He could succeed at a Championship club or fail at a league 2 one. Who knows. It was this kind of simplistic analysis that led to claims Clarke was "out of his depth" in the Conference. I'm not looking at this season, last season we won just 4 games after #Christmas, and that's when we had Harrison and Gaffney et al. It was going bad for 18 months, then the final grenade was this summers recruitment. Nice of him to admit that he had the biggest budget he had ever had. Problem is he wasted it on less than average players

What have you got against DC Nothing, but he is now history and this is like some sort of prayer meeting. His last 18 months was crap, and we know it

The 2017-18 season was another good one. Eventually, selling goalscorers caught up with us and it was unrealistic to expect him to keep finding goalscorers of the quality of Taylor, Bodin and Harrison for a fraction of the cost. The budget may have been the best he had, but you just can't keep selling goalscorers and expect to maintain the existinģ levels, never mind progress. Same thing happened with the likes of Cureton, Roberts and Hayles. Same thing at Southampton with Lambert and Mane. Not saying selling was wrong. We have to live within our means. But to ignore the fact that we sold successful strikers for around £1.5m (and were surely worth more to us than that) and replaced them with around a third of that is to twist the facts to suit an agenda.

Definitely not, damage was already done. DC did a terrific job but the squad he’s left us with given his budget does deserve some criticism, and if you can’t see that then unfortunately fall into the category with people who can’t even handle a discussion around anything negative being said about the bloke.
