If childbirth is the theme of your advertising you'd be hard-pressed to beat the 1998 scalextric ad:

Good video but thought they would have cut the bit with AG in the background. The guy is literally looking over at AG as it says "There are two great days in a persons life" It could of course be that he is looking at AG and thinks "nah, sod that - I'm off to the Mem to pick up my baby kit and a sausage roll". Mind you he does seem to leg it across the Downs and Kellaway Avenue faster than Usain Bolt.

Am i the only one who thinks that is um.... ah.... uh... a little bit sh1t? It's so lacking in imagination it's untrue. Let's look at the club's strengths and weaknesses: We're nicknamed the pirates, we have a pirate on the badge, therefore we can easily associate with 'counter-culture' symbolism- ie the Jolly Roger. We play in a sh** hole that the neighbours lovingly refer to as 'Chernobyl'. There is a great and very obvious USP there that the masterminds at the club are totally missing. We could be taking a leaf out of St Pauli's book and be marketing ourselves towards hipster yoof looking for an alternative to the sort of 'run of the mill' experience you can get at Ashton gate...instead we are knocking out these bland anodyne ads advertising ourselves as some sort of glorious family day out which is in direct competition to City rather than displaying and celebrating why we are different and unique. I think the video is ok, but I do agree that we should be taking a few tips from a club like St Pauli. Their marketing and range of merchandise on offer is quality.

Vanity project that won't shift any more season tickets. Vanity reply that won't improve your standing on here

Works for me. Trashton lights barely recognisable I'm more concerned at the chant at the end?

Nice video but does it work?
If we paid a media agency for this we should be getting something back for the feature of Ashton Gate.

Good video but thought they would have cut the bit with AG in the background. The guy is literally looking over at AG as it says "There are two great days in a persons life" Yeah they’re all making fun of us on the OTIB forum and our choice of background for the FAQ site. Embarrassing. It's always comforting to know that they still think about us incessantly - despite being such a massive, massive club.

It's a very professional and (attempted) emotional jerking production. Again.
It's infinitely better than where we were two years ago, and a stand alone great piece of artwork in our locker with something I think we should be proud of.
Opinions may vary as to whether the subject material is palatable, or each individual shot could be improved, but ultimately I think most will see this as a positive item and the club should be commended.
Well done to our media department and commercial team..

Embarrassing. Love the effort and production levels now in this, but I get having the bridge in the video - but why hotwells? And how the f**k did they let Ashton gate appear in the background when he was running over the bridge..? Truely shocking and we deserve to have the water taken out of us for it... I mean WTF? Awlful.

I like the fact we are promoting Rovers to the whole of the city not just showing someone coming from our traditional heartlands - after all they would like to think there is no north / south divide these days so lets get in the face of those south of the river and tell them there is a football club in Bristol that is not a plastic franchise.

This video is not about attracting new fans to our club as such, but is rather about getting current fans to buy/renew there season tickets. There is a north/south divide. This video would have registerd with more gasheads if it was shot in Kingswood, Easville, Horfield and along Glos rd. The story makes sense, having the bridge in it does also. But Hotwells and the Gate in the background..? Its like a student created this and tried to get parts of Bristol in it for no reason at all. Ive got no problem with us putting posters/billboards around south Bristol as its our city. But with this production it should have been more about selling our history, tradition and character as a club to sell the idea of getting gasheads to buy a season ticket by playing at our heartstrings and love for the club rather than cramming stuff in the video for the sake of it.

Can't help but think some are taking this a little too seriously. Any video is an improvement on a couple of years ago or more.

To those questioning the inclusion of Trashton Gate:
He runs past it. Ignoring it on his way to the mem.
It’s a deliberate snub, not an advert for them.
I like the video personally. Made me laugh. Light years better than what’s come before.

People have been saying for years how Rovers are stuck in the dark age compared to City in marketing the club, yet when they produce a professional looking video people are quick to criticise. Get ready for people to criticise the end of season awards night even when those who attended last season said some premiership teams would have been proud of the event.

There’s me on the shelf for the first time in decades regarding renewing and then they go and strike a cord to my heart which is very relatable to my current situation! Bastards! Lol!
