In the first of our “A CHAT WITH…” series, Max sat down with former Rovers centre-half Steve Elliott to discuss his career and in particular his time at the Gas. They spoke about Paul Trollope’s promotion winning squad, THAT game at Wembley Stadium, and why the Memorial Stadium holds a special place in his heart. Some great stories and a few laughs along the way, enjoy Gasheads! gas-cast.co.uk/blog/podcast/a-chat-with-steve-elliott/

Wow Steve doesn’t make the greatest listen tbf! Was really looking forward to it but he didn’t come across as I’d hoped! Seems to have distanced himself from the game mentally and I find that strange considering the passion he had on the pitch! Enjoy building and the family stevo!

Enjoyed listening, personally found the fact he’s distances himself from football quite interesting. Had some great stories about leaving and the promotion season!

Maybe he could build us a new stadium?

Steve mentioned how solid we were at the back that season we went up via the playoffs - we did have 22 clean sheets.
This season we've managed 13 - which is pretty impressive considering we've spent most of it in the bottom 6.

That was an interesting listen. He's clearly moved on from football unlike many ex-players. Seems like a really down to earth guy with some great memories and anecdotes from his career.
Maybe it was just the way I construed it but I didn't sense a lot of love for Rickie Lambert which surprised me. Also interesting to hear that Atkins lost the dressing room and that Atkins originally helped sell the move to Rovers on the strength of the stadium redevelopment!
