Is the 2016 front page racist? Not directly, however The Sun (and other rags) and it's negative coverage and obsession of Raheem Sterling over the years has done nothing to help in my opinion, like the below 20+ stories on Raheem
/photo/1 I totally agree Sterling has always been treated poorly - I've always liked him as a closet Liverpool fan, dates back to being a five year old glory hunter before finding The Gas! I'm not sure it was racially driven but more a case of bullying, he was flagged as greedy for leaving Liverpool and that has both stuck and escalated with some of his silly things he's done in his personal life. None of which have been terribly bad for a young lad IMO. i wonder if the guy who tweeted has researched the amount of stories and abusive headlines aimed at Wayne Rooney over the years. I remember one tabloid headline slaughtering him for taking delivery of a supercar on the same day a car plant was closing back in the post 2008 recession, something like "Rooney laughs in the faces of sacked Ford workers" or something similar. i don't know why footballers are such a target. Perhaps it's because they often come from poorer backgrounds? Posh kids who make good in music or acting never get held to the same standards.

Is racism really that bad at the moment or are the media blowing it out of proportion?

Is racism really that bad at the moment or are the media blowing it out of proportion? Totally blown out of proportion. The odd incident in stadiums is nearly always one individual who once identified gets banned by the club. Most of it at the moment is on social media and I bet celebrities from all walks of life get the same type of abuse as footballers. The current "problems" we have are nowhere near what they are in the rest of Europe where you still get large groups of morons chanting and making monkey noises etc inside the ground with local FA's denying it or brushing it under the carpet.

Saw Ashley Young got a hounding online last night. I'm a Utd fan and it's an outright travesty that he's our captain and still wearing the shirt - and he was, once again, abysmal last night - but staggering how low some will stoop to be horrible...
When, if ever, will Twitter and the like start legitimately policing this nonsense?

We already have political censorship and manipulation here from the likes of C4 and the BBC. This country is heading for communism as it is, and we don't need help from British American snowflake / middle class liberal CHEKA or KGB. The vast majority of this country has got the message about racism, LGBT and BAME. The politicians & media haven't got the message yet about drugs, gangs, criminal underworld, foreign criminals doing 'business' here.
