We don't know for sure who is out of contract but I would guess from that list above Payne, Bennett, Nichols, Mensah and Matthews are still under contract so it will be difficult to move them on. I bet Payne will still be our player when the season starts. If we are lucky, somebody might take him on loan before the deadline and at least contribute towards some of his wages. I think if you say to a player " I am sorry but you are not part of my plans, and I don't want to see you rot in the reserves, so you might want to consider your future". I suspect that has an effect Of course, but also lots of players would rather not play than to have their wages halved by moving elsewhere. I doubt Payne would get paid the same than he does here anywhere else. I also highly doubt Shrewsbury are currently paying his full salary whilst there on loan (I guess we are still paying a fair chunk). That's why I think the most likely scenario will be for him to go out on loan again but we will still be covering a chunk of his wages.

If GC’s philosophy of the 11 have the shirt as opposed to rotating the team regularly then I don’t see much value In signing any more central midfielders unless you are planning on not using Upson or Ogogo. Priority will need to be right back, wide positions and up front where, prior to JCH arriving, all our struggles seem to have been this season.

We need more quality in central midfield IMO, and I can see Sinclair, Lines & Sercombe all leaving this summer - meaning we’d only be left with Upson, Ogogo and O.Clarke. Definitely need at least one CM for me, if not two.

Not a great L1 player and maybe past his best, but for attitude and workrate I would keep him here as a back up player.

I personally feel Sincs could do a job as full back. No nonsense player like Pritch was.

In L1, I’d agree with you there but before that don’t forget he signed Taylor, Bodin, Mansell, Lines, Leadbitter, Sinclair and more, all pivotal to a couple of years of fantastic success. The odd signing in L1 has been decent ie Lumley, THD and Sercombe but a lot simply haven’t met the standard required. Hoping we can have decent summer’s recruitment with Coughlan. Really need to push ourselves on next year. You can add Tony Craig to that list of good signings. He's been instrumental in our defensive record this year. Player of the year for me.

All about opinions obviously, but I'd say only Tom Lockyer or Jack Bonham could compete for that (with honourable mentions for Ollie Clarke, James Clarke and JCH).

Always stands up to be counted and puts his body on the line every week - I think Locks will have learnt a lot from him too. However, I also think he a big problem. When he plays we play very deep and I suspect that is due to his lack of pace and fear of being caught out. This has a knock on effect of our midfield then dropping deep meaning the service to our strikers comes from long balls which are obviously going to be less accurate and easier for league one brute centre halfs to defend. As much as I like TC and definitely want him to stay another year I would like a younger, quicker, big centre half to come in to partner Locks.

Hopefully blood some youngsters against Barnsley.
Retained list for me:
O.Clarke J.Clarke Craig Lockyer Holmes-Dennis Clarke-Harris Sercombe Andre Jr. Sinclair Kelly Upson Agogo
Keep if we can: Bonham Jakubiak
Everyone else can go. Need at least 6/7 signings

Defensively we’ve been half decent this year and they’ve got a lot of undue stick due to the lack of attacking threat, be it defensive formations, lack of wingers and appeasement of players such as Nichols and Reilly, who sadly simply aren’t good enough. Add to that Rodman’s injury troubles and Sercombes horrific drop in form. Thank god for JCH

if as it is likely we will loose one or two of our midfielders I would be happy to see Jack Payne brought in, he is out on loan at the moment and was coached by GC. Sean Scannell would certainly improve on our wide players and Eoin Doyle upfront, may want to leave Bradford now they are down, he knows where the back of the net is. Liked Dom Telford when he was here, Bury have to cut costs to survive would be a good addition another one who has confidence to find the back of the net.

The Development Squad host Southend United in the Central League on Tuesday afternoon, with the game being played at the Memorial Stadium.
Kick off for the fixture is 1pm on Tuesday, in what is the Development Squad's final Central League fixture of the season.
Entrance to the game is free for supporters, with the East Terrace and Stand open for the fixture. Refreshments will also be on sale.
Will any 'Fringe' players have a final chance to impress?

Given how Rovers play things sonclose to their chest these days, I don't really believe anyone is ITK. Certainly not me, anyway. I think he will be offered a contract. He's three players in one and an essential part of our squad still. Whether he signs it is anyone's guess. He may have other offers or plans. I hope he stays.

Out Payne Bennett Leadbitter Lines Sinclair Sercombe (if value is met) Nichols Smith Slocombe Mensah Matthews Big summer ahead GC to Plymouth if they go down I think of those I'd want to keep Nichols, Matthews and Sercombe. Sercombe's had a poor season but he definitely has the capability to perform at this level, Nichols doesn't score but he brings out the best in the players around him and is leaps and bounds ahead of Reilly, who I'd much rather be shipped out. And Matthews I don't think has been given enough of a chance, and I'm surprised that people react so negatively to him, especially with how well he performed at the beginning of the season. I think I could have my mind changed on Mensah too, has barely played. The others are all definite outs, except I'd add Reilly and Partington

Think we’ll definitely need a couple of new strikers next season, whether it’s to play alongside JCH or to replace him.
I wonder if we’d look at bringing Ellis back if JCH were to leave. He hasn’t had any minutes for Ipswich since February and we know he’s capable at this level. Might demand triple the wages since he was here though since he’s been a Championship footballer since.
