You sir need to control your language and be more eloquent with your comments. Who is your suggestion to replace Tom? Return of the Mack(Crystal) Let’s bring Geoff out of retirement while we are at it!

It's not an excuse to go "we don't have the financial power to keep them." When clubs on similar budgets like Accrington and Gillingham can keep players like Billy Kee and Tom Eaves. How can anyone actually justify the situation that we're in? Like Widdrington said 90% of the players are out of contract in the summer. 90%!! Like it or not we're going to see a mass exodus in the summer, players we like will go, players we want to go will go. And we need it. But to sell the best defender in a top 6 defence in the league isn't acceptable unless he desperately wanted to go, and I don't think he would. The thing we will most miss about Lockyer in my opinion is the leadership aspect, do we really have any other leaders on the pitch? Craig maybe, Ollie CLarke maybe. I wonder where he'll go though, whilst someone in the comments has pointed out that Forest wanted Lockyer. The reason they wanted him is because they apparently wanted him at RB as a backup target to Sam Byram. The same Tom Eaves who is about to leave Gillingham on a free after not signing a contract?

Going to C*ty according to Twitter.
Thought we have an agreement with them? Can't sign each others players?
Even if you trusted those snakes to actually honour something, technically Tom is a free agent as of July 1st so they wouldn’t break anything, if true.

Yes I’m watered up, but watching Tom for past few years I have to wonder if he is watered up. I also wonder if the people who watch that waste of space are watered up. Speaking of up that Upson can f**k off to non league too. You sir need to control your language and be more eloquent with your comments. Who is your suggestion to replace Tom? Other than myself I’ll leave that to the new manager 🤞

Well said. Pathetic how other clubs hand on to the likes of Eaves and Kee yet we sell them at the first opportunity. Because other clubs actually have ambition. We don't. Eaves is leaving Gillingham on a free. Another fickle post which ignores fact.

Shambles. Let a key player, probably one with some value leave for free. So amateur it's unbelievable. Bit disappointed in Tom too if I'm honest, the club make no money.

Is there any truth in the City rumours, or is it just that, rumours?

He'll know what sort of wages players are on in the Champ and will know he can get signed up and probably treble his money. Lad's ambitious and hungry, good luck to him. not much we can really do.

He'll also, most likely, earn more/get a bigger signing-on bonus due to the signing club not having to pay us a fee.

He owes the club nothing after years of tremendous service. He knows the direction and ambition of the football club doesn’t match his and I’m sure time will tell us that he has made the right choice. After all, he has to look after himself above anyone else.

I like Tom locks and appreciate all his hard work here in those 8 years. However I truly believe he is not and will not be good enough for the championship. Could be the next forgotten man like Ellis this season. Best of luck tho Tom hope you prove me wrong

A player is highly regarded by his league one club with a year or so left on his contract. The club offers him a long term extension The player wants to keep his long term options open and expresses a willingness to sign only a short extension - 18 months. The club has to decide whether to market him for sale or accept they have little choice but to give him the 18 month deal he wants. The player decides he won't be sold against his will. They club agree terms on the 18 month extension. The player chooses to run down his latest contract and has no interest in listening to any more offers from the club. The players deal reaches his expiry and we all learn he will likely leave as a a free agent.
Could someone please explain how a club could get the player to either sign a long term deal or be sold like an object. Thumbscrews and water boarding do not count.

Months ago when he was already free to talk to other clubs! “Not much we can really do” - just like Bodin, Taylor, Brown & TV screen. We have sat on our hands in transfer windows for years, always acting late. The same goes for contract management. Can you imagine if we said about not signing a winger ‘not much we can really do’? It’s the same thing. If you’re too slow you will be punished. We have been slow on transfers & contracts since the new owners took over.

Billy Kee stays up north to keep some equilibrium with his mental health issues. He did a great interview a year or 2 back about that. Who’s to say Eaves will stay? He’s had a bit of a one swallow season this year. Remember he only got 4 for Yeovil last year in L2. DC was responsible for TLs contract. And whilst Parts, Sincs, Lines, the keeps and sercs May be free to leave the same man also gave a contract based on appearances to Tony Craig and Ed Upson who will be here next year who quite frankly, are not to standard. For his faults TW has got us JCH on a free and a good battling midfielder in Ogogo and it’s next season that we will see the real fruits of his work.
