if we all take the attitude that nothing can be done then we only offer a losing mentality and let the owners get away running the club poorly. So what are you doing about it? As one person I can’t do much. Do that mean we have to accept the current situation or can we discuss on a forum set up for Rovers fans.

But, you might want to beware of implicitly blaming other fans for what you are equally culpable of. It's very lazy to just say I don't find it acceptable, and then pretend you've done your bit. If you don't find it acceptable then do something about it. Personally I find it acceptable, so resent being told I'm not doing it properly by people who aren't doing anything except typing the word unacceptable on the internet. If you really believe it's unacceptable, then surely it is unacceptable to do nothing. Surely waiting for those who find it acceptable to do something is illogical. Or if you're just gonna sit there accepting stuff, use a different word. Just say 'I don't like it' or something, coz saying it's unacceptable sort of implies you're not actually accepting things, which you plainly are, and just admitted.

I am not lazy just sitting there. I am giving my opinion on our current setup. As a fan I am entitled to offer my thoughts. If if you find the current situation acceptable then that’s your opinion and I respect it but don’t agree with it. I don’t need a lesson on how to write on a forum. I just give my honest and open opinion. If you don’t like it then don’t waste your time replying as you can’t change the situation.

So, you didn't want a discussion after all. I’m happy to discuss. But don’t insult people if you don’t like their views. Your previous message was answered. I haven’t the time to be wrapped up arguing with our own fans who all express opinions over and over again. I have been supporting Rovers since 1968 and have seen many up and downs. Mainly downs unfortunately. Let’s be honest when Waels family bought the club most of us though “at last we can go somewhere” we can’t even get a large tv screen installed on time.

Just because I don’t have the means to single handily change our setup doesn’t mean I can’t offer my opinion. No, you're playing with words. You're saying it's not acceptable, when clearly you're accepting it. If you say you don't like it, fair enough, none of us do. But saying 'I don't like it' just sounds like whining on the internet. But saying it's unacceptable sounds a bit more proactive, like you're gonna do something about it. But it's actually just empty words, right? And you are implicitly blaming other fans by saying stuff like "if we all take the attitude that nothing can be done then we only offer a losing mentality and let the owners get away running the club poorly." You're distancing your 'it's unacceptable' from other fans accepting attitude. But, as I said, that's just empty words, right, coz you just said you can't do anything.

So a big clear out. With more likely to go if we can offload them (Payne, Bennett etc). Think letting Sincs go is a mistake. We've lost too many of the heart of our team took quick and this feels like the end of an era with only Ollie Clarke and JC left from our promotion from L2. It's going to be a massive summer and if DC was to be believed, our budget will be smaller. Especially with attendances decreasing year on year. I personally think GC is going to play an old fashioned 4-4-2 next season with a physical team with wingers. I think we hit our ceiling under DC and now gradually on the decline, I hope I'm wrong. I hope we're looking for another RB as JC and Partington won't be good enough to take us forward. We need more creativity in midfield and a poacher alongside JCH. You have to worry about our defence with Lockyer going and if Bonham doesn't come back. Craig is getting no younger. A tough season without an injection of cash and if GC does go then we lose something extra. I would settle for 20th right now if it was offered tbh.

I don't think we are as far away from having a decent squad as many on here believe. We obviously need a g/k hopefully Jack, as for the rest... back four was excellent last season and if it aint broke ......but Tom may not be here so in comes Alfie, better prospect , bigger, scores, and better distribution, Craig there to guide , THD on the left or do we play him as creator in midfield? any way have James C and Kelly as back up, just need a good right back. Midfield ,the problem area plenty of braun there but need creativity, if not THD then signing required , together with Russe given a chance ,that should be that. Up front give Reilly and JCH a run together, convinced Gavin will get us 15 plus goals a season if played regularly, gets into right positions and sharpness comes with playing regularly, he is still quite young then we have excellent prospects in development squad who need to be in first team squad now, then of course there's TOM 2!, I have seen him have some brilliant games this season and he is an excellent footballer so what to do with him, can,t continue with him as striker, clue is in that description so could we use his creativity in midfield behind strikers? is he tough enough? perhaps a full preseason to prepare tactics and formations will tell us. Prefer to use development squad than loan signings who are not going to be regular starters, why develop other teams players and not our own? Some will say the usual 'too young' and all that , don't agree, I know its on a different level but Ajax captain last night was only 19 and scored first goal, no reason not to give our own a chance at our level. So there we are that's me with me rose tinters on, never take them off! think with full preseason with GC, clear out of disruptive influences, alluded to by excellent Rodman article in Post, and by GC when he took over, we will surprise a lot of people next season, of course nothing less than winning title by 10 points will do for some , but I will be more than happy with comfortable top 10 finish, decent cup run and a young un or two breaking through, up the Rovers!!

For a start, Alfie Kilgour might be a decent prospect, but to suggest he is a better prospect than Lockyer is a bit much. Locks was our captain, a full Welsh international by the age of 22 and has played over 270 first team games for the club. Kilgour is also shorter than Locks, not taller as you suggest. He's nearly 21-years-old and has only made a couple of first team appearances for us, how many had Locks made at the same stage of his career? I don't think we should put too much pressure on Kilgour and expect him to immediately step into the first team and replace the club captain.

Good post.
Personally I think mid table is probably our limit, but this should be achievable without too much fuss. I too would like to see if Kilgour, Russe and maybe one or two others over the season have what it takes but my main hope for 2019-20 is that we play with a bit more pace and flair and become a more attractive side to watch. I'm not expecting us to become Man City overnight (or ever, actually!) but I don't subscribe to the view that we need to just be 'hard to beat' in order to stay out of trouble.
Can't wait for 20th June and the release of the fixtures!

It is far too early to be talking about being in a downward motion when in fact on the pitch we have been in an upward motion having sunk to the depths under DC in the last 30 or 40 games under him. I see that as usual when fans favourites go it is a "bad decision" whereas if a player like Craig who has been excellent goes suddenly it would be looked on as positive. I predicted at the start of last season that failure in the summer dealings to get a balanced side would soon see a drop in home attendances. With our home record I am quite amazed we managed to retain as many supporters as we did! Lines, Sinclair, Leadbitter played little part in the second half of the season or really over much of the season at all so were obvious right contenders to go out. Those moaning about Nichols, Bennett, Mensah, Payne and Matthews being "kept"- what was GC supposed to do as they are all contracted to us and we would have to pay their contracts up so may as well keep them. Bennett could well create interest from Swindon but they will now at least have to pay his contract up, Eastleigh possibly the same with Matthews.
What will bring the crowds back is five or six good signings and an improvement in the football produced particularly at home. We have a nucleus of a good side Rodman, Upson, O Clarke, Sercombe, Craig, THD, Ogogo, JCH- I am not sure about James Clarke at full back but based on his form he is a more than useful squad player. Just looking at these players it is clear what has to be done and it is not impossible to create a better team on less overall salary that we had. Lockyer has been good for us but is not irreplaceable and there will be plenty of good keepers around if Jack decides to go elsewhere which IMO would be stupid as he could well find himself stuck on a bench with a bit more money (Tayloresque)
I like what GC says in that he will go for more pace and power which says to me that we will have more mobile players rather than the one paced team that DC created. Whether GC is just words remains to be seen but he deserves the chance to put a side together. the time to complain is if come the time we start back at training we are still short in most departments as I might add was the case most seasons under DC. The summer is the time to make the signings and use the friendlies to blend the side together. One last thing I will say is that failure to at least invest reasonably in the team will lose us 2000 supporters by October if the home form begins anything like last season so better to be prepared. You don't just need money to put together a good side but you need to make good signings and produce a balanced side with players playing in their natural positions. We shall wait and see.

A lot of the information on the internet is wrong. Maybe he can just jump higher, but wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't accurate, as Lockyer wasn't the biggest centre back.

If he isn't capable of putting his laces through the ball for a bit of power I just can't see it happening.

If you look at Kilgour pictured next to Coughlan they look virtually the same height and Coughlan is reported to be 6ft 2in.
