Did we ever find out how he got on over in Spain? Bristol Post revealed that one of Dutton's first assignments was to travel to Real Oviedo to study the clubs methods and players. He was originally brought in to apparantly 'improve Rovers' recruitment from abroad and identify players from abroad who could fit into Rovers' side'.

Judging by the zero signings we've made from abroad I think we know the answer!

Out of interest, why would the club be a joke for hiring a new media assistant? Not harping on at you, GGMI, just confused by Steve’s mrs’ comment! She seems annoyed they got rid of Keith Brookman. Surprised everyone is still so hung up on that tbh. Not condoning the way the departure was handled but the media output has been a lot better in the past year or two since IMO.

At one time we had enough 'talent' amongst our supporters to run a small industry very successfully. People with experience running SME businesses up to large corporates. The problem was that rather than accepting the advice in the way it was meant the powers that be saw them as a challenge to their authority at the club. Sometimes the best leaders are those that will listen and accept advice. Advice is cheap, where was the cash from these 'talents'? After 40 years working with businesses I have learnt that sometimes its better to take advice than simply do the same wrong things and 'crash and burn'. Advice may be cheap but it can save you a lot of pain and suffering. I have seen businesses collapse because people weren't prepared to listen to sound advice and their own arrogance caused a business to fail. With regard to Rovers there were people willing to put in cash but those at the top didn't want to let go or listen to anything that contradicted their view. There is a proverb that says 'The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.' It's not always about the money. Look at the Accrington boss who has applied sound business rules and they are in profit by using his wisdom and business advice and acumen. Yes money helps but it is not the be all and end all.

One ahead of me then Nobster! Multi tasking, bloody impressed mate!

Used to work with a former actuary on the Mirror Group Pension Scheme. His advice to Robert Maxwell was, 'don't do these things, they are illegal'. The advice of Maxwell's own lawyers was quite the opposite.

Maxwell now there's a name from the past. He did exactly what he wanted and that usually involved someone else's pension funds. To this day, as far as I know, no one has found out how much money he salted away in Lichenstien before he 'fell off' the boat....

Programmes are dead anyway, genuinely surprised clubs still do them.

Programmes are dead anyway, genuinely surprised clubs still do them. The thing is, not everyone has access to or interest in the internet. Rovers have improved immeasurably in this area, but it's fair to say that the programme has deteriorated hugely. Now just a mass of glossy photos and very little in the way of good writing (with the exception of Mehew Magic, of course!).

I take your point but it's also 2019 - so probably 99% or more do have access to the internet and written media (newspapers, programmes) are a dying breed. It's the age of social media - clubs HAVE to prioritise social media to stay relevant (hate City but the goal gifs, for example, were genius) and unfortunately that means the programme will suffer instead.

Think 99% might be pushing it but your point is probably right. Sadly. And don't tell anyone but I agree about City's gifs.

Keith only left 9 months ago, so you need to make up your mind if it was better before or after. Or of course you could just write stuff before you've looked at the evidence, and calculated your feelings on it.

Programmes are dead anyway, genuinely surprised clubs still do them. They can't be that dead because at the end of last season EFL clubs were for first time ever allowed to not produce a physical programme anymore. No-one acted on that offer. I agree though that sales are going dow.n.

Keith only left 9 months ago, so you need to make up your mind if it was better before or after. Or of course you could just write stuff before you've looked at the evidence, and calculated your feelings on it. I'll rephrase. The media output has been better since 26 July 2018. Better use of social media outlets and the website is more populated with content. Better use of YouTube in terms of interviews with the boss and players pre/post matches and more acknowledgement of those on loan, youth teams and the community trust. But this is all my opinion of course, you are welcome to disagree. And in response to your other post, I get that clubs were allowed to not produce programmes anymore and still did but there's no arguing sales are dwindling and the downward curve is only going to continue in a modern technology era. Edit: btw to confirm, I'm not slating Keith, his career or ability. I'm more-so advocating for praise for the new media team members for bringing some modernisation to our output and improving our approach. Me and Dylan both graduated from the same course at uni so I know him personally. Top geezer and good at his job.
