How the f**k did he think he could tweet that photo, and still have a career once people had seen it? I can only assume strong drink had been partaken, beforehand.

I do find it strange that all of the so-called celebrities/footballers etc use social media in this way. Why don't they just use a false name so they can communicate with their friends?

Clearly a stupid thing to do but I accept his explanation and there was clearly no racist intent. When you have an incident like Ron Atkinson then clearly no alternative than a sacking but with Baker could they not just make him publicly apologise, state they accept there was no racist intent but that it was unacceptable and he will be suspended without pay for two weeks? Should every innocent mistake or slip of the tongue result in someone's career being ended to satisfy public demand for the severest punishment? A soap actress was recently sacked for something someone found on her Twitter account when she was a kid, a footballer has recently been punished for something he wrote when he was fifteen years old. Some perspective is required IMO. A clearly innocent mistake or an immature comment by a kid is seen as a heinous crime requiring the severest of punishment and public shaming. Nothing ever gets said about people trolling families of murder victims, especially kids, which is far worse than any of the above and completely sick. The BBC are setting a low tariff and they need to be consistent. If someone makes a comment like Rio Ferdinand did a few years ago when he called Ashley Cole a choc ice then I would expect them to be sacked too.

More followers seeing the products you are wearing means a few extra quid from your sponsors? Vanity? A high number of followers gives impression of importance and popularity?

Today's BBC statement …
"Current policy means we have no alternative but to sack Danny Baker for racial abuse. If only he'd just sexually interfered with th baby then we could have turned a blind eye for years."

I'm not trying to be controversial in this post but I'm going to be as open and measured as I can be with a very delicate issue.
I think his point about the diseased mind is a poignant one. If he did not post at all with race in mind, that makes him ignorant for sure but not a racist I dont think. Consider for a second that he simply did not make the connection.
Now, I have zero interest in the royal family. I actively avoid news about any of them. Now I would have made the racist connection to that photo probably if I had known about whatshername being black but I didnt know that so I wouldnt have. I could have completely unintentionally offended someone by not making that connection, maybe even laughed at what I would be seeing as just a chimp in a suit. Now what would be the difference between him and I at that stage IF it was a genuinely ignorant mistake? Not much I reckon. Yet I abhor racism. I have never once let a racist remark go unchallenged in my personal or working life. Imagine I was the first person to comment on that tweet.
I also dont think people really want apologies sometimes. I forget who wrote about it but remember someone else being internet shamed writing that they are not interested in your regret or your sincerest of apologies. They just want to destroy you forever. They want you struck of the face of the earth with everything you ever touched tarnished and tainted forever.
I guess only he will know his true intent but it sure has upset a lot of people. In a really very uncomfortable way I almost find myself hoping that he did mean it the way it's been interpreted because otherwise he is being torn to absolute shreds for just being a stupid thoughtless git when there are real malicious racists out there being given regular air time on my license fee and getting away with it.
Food for thought maybe.
If you want to attack me for this post then please do me the courtesy of asking me for clarification first because as I say, I am not racist. Nor am I defending the actions of a racist if he is a racist. Just musing.

And yet what Big Jock posted, is not without an element of truth. We know that in certain circumstances, the police/social workers have turned a blind eye to the rape of children. There wasn`t the remotest possibility that Plod would turn a blind eye to what Baker did.

No doubt having to respond to some do gooding member of the public who wants to destroy the poor bloke. What a disgraceful waste of police time. Tells us something about the priorities of our modern society!

Nor am I defending the actions of a racist if he is a racist. Just musing. Had the same conversation with another Gashead yesterday. I also said it probably wasn't a racist thing as imo all babies look like chimps regardless of colour , however there is no way db would have not known she was of mixed race. If it was you who made the comments on here ,some of us would have said it was misguided at best, however you are not db in his case it was an extremely feckwity thing to do he knew the colour of harry'e mrs and the colour of the babber ,so in my mind knew exactly how some would have perceived his post and therefore had to know the reaction of the general public. His reaction was o txt somebody and sy just been sacked from the bbc ,i wonder if it was don to get the sack to be able to go on to something else. On a side note i see this as karma for his comments on our club (can't stand the bloke) ,to me he knew exactly what he was doing ,i don't believe it had racist intent theres no way in hell he didn't realise most people would see it as anything other than racist in those day and age, more he just wanted to be controversial ,well he certainly got that bit right

No doubt having to respond to some do gooding member of the public who wants to destroy the poor bloke. What a disgraceful waste of police time. Tells us something about the priorities of our modern society! Eric the police have always put everything before protecting the public ,it been going on forever, in the 80's a crown court Judges car was broken into, wrapped up taken to a local garage, pushed onto a 4 poster ramp, a few hours later it seemed as if the entire scenes of crime department were crawling over the car took em a day or two, if it was your car you would be very lucky to have them attend your car, they only seem to appear if theirs a spate of break ins in that area. Again if your house gets burgled they may or may not attend, when a business gets burgled they arrive en mass. The thing with the arrival of social media ,they prioritise social media posts as it's going to have quite a quick clear up rate so for very little effort crime rate figure get a good old fiddling, in this case it was the right thing to do as harry is a member of our royal family.

Inee said "n this case it was the right thing to do as harry is a member of our royal family."
Really? Do we now grade response times by social strata? A presumed strata at that.
