Did we get a sell on fee for Harrison? If so, we could stand to get a nice bit of cash this summer considering Ipswich are still paying last summers fee off in instalments and Pompey are probably going to pay over the odds to tempt him away from Ipswich to a promotion chasing rival.

This is tongue in cheek but what happens if a club has a sell on clause but then buys their player back? Would they also get the sell on clause, effectively getting a nice discount on their purchase?

Do you seriously think Pompey are going to pay over £750K in order to trigger any sell on fee? I would have thought Ipswich would be lucky to get anywhere near £500K for him.

So other clubs continue to sign players. Is it just me or are we being left behind again considering we have had most of our squad leave to the extent we don't even have a senior goalkeeper on the books and yet coming up to mid June we have made one signing?

It’s usually written in the small print that to be able to trigger the clause, the club the player has transferred on to, must not be the club he came from in the first place. I presume this was the case when we sold Harrison, but I don’t know.

Left behind in mid June? Worry about it if no-one else has come in this time next month.

Ipswich have signed him, will this free up Ellis to leave? Would you have him back? Without a doubt. Imagine Ellis and JCH up top! Playoff/promotion chasing front line. Not sure about that. Don't think Harrison is anything more than an average L1 striker at best but time will tell.

Trouble is that they normally score against us!

Did you just cut and paste this from last year ? I haven’t seen much at our level other than Peterborough where I have thought ... Wish we had him . GC has said he wants four or five before preseason - good few weeks away yet. Equally most contracts end on June 30th ... not many will commit just yet they are all too busy with their agents scheming.

He’s better than Nichols and Reilly so would be an improvement goals wise, without even counting how well he brings others into the game (note how he helped both Taylor and Bodin, and all round excellent improvement in hold up play). Imo a squad with 2 or 3 ‘average’ strikers, alongside JCH would be more than adequate for a play off push. Trouble is we currently have the above two mentioned with 6 goals in 77 appearances, which is a shocking 1 goal every 13 (12.8) games.

Ellis has only got double figures once at this level and I think JCH has too. Both decent for this level but neither of them have been prolific in their league careers other than JCH last season.

We don't need prolific, just a striker who'll get us 15 goals a season, rather than a couple! If we can get him for £250K, the third and final installment?, then I'd have him back.

He certainly needs to be playing week in week out.

Seems odd, I would have thought it was June 1st as that covers the end of the season for the EFL, why would clubs want to pay an extra month past the end of the season on a contract thy haven't renewed? Either way, I wouldn't be concerned if we had a first XI pretty much in place from last year- as it is we need a whole new squad and trying to make up a squad of cast offs because everyone else has got in there early doesn't inspire me with confidence. Mind you I suppose it's all a waiting game at the moment for TW to see who Coventry want to release

Ultimately he’s failed at a club that got relegated.

Ellis would be a definite yes for me. A pairing of strong mobile strikers at this level with both the potential to score 15 goals each, seems like a no brainer to me. I wasn’t always Ellis biggest fan but his previous season here he seemed to really mature. His work in both boxes for us were massive that season
