He also wasn't good enough for any of the youth Wales squads either, only 3 games in total. In fact the only time he even played any games about L2 level was the season just gone. He's obviously a late bloomer, but let's bash DC some more, for no apparent reason.

Hence promotion.

Hence promotion. That's an interesting point. Premier/Championship Managers, and the players themselves don't want to go to teams struggling, and prefer/believe that going to a team nearer the top of any lower league gives the loan player a better experience - however if that team is doing well they will then struggle to get in the side, whereas at a team that is struggling they are more likely to get game time.

It would have hopefully given access to future decent players on loan if he'd had a run in the side. His time with DC was a terrible waste

Loan players come and loan players go; they are generally signed to provide cover within a squad.

Imo unless they are good enough to go straight into the starting XI, we shouldn't bother. We have our own younger players to sit on the bench and gain vital matchday experience.
I have never been a fan of the loan system anyway, borrowing someone else's player just seems a bit like cheating to me.

As mentioned a million times on here before, we were on a very good run at that time and didn't need to change our starting lineup. Hence promotion. If we were on a very good run and the team was playing well, why did we loan them ? Rovers boss Darrell Clarke said this afternoon; “I’m delighted to be able to bring Oliver to the club and wish him every success while he’s with us. “He is a highly rated young player and has had brief experience of playing in League Two this season with Newport. “He was recalled early from that spell in order so that he could train with Swansea’s first team squad and it’s really pleasing that they have allowed him to join us on loan until the end of the season. “We have picked up a few injuries of late and his arrival will not only enable to cover the absences of the players involved, but also add to competition for places in our first team squad.”
