Dear Gasheads,
ALL supporters of Bristol Rovers are invited to The Wellington Pub (opposite The Mem), Horfield, in the marque, for an organised meeting.
On Tuesday 10th June at 7.30.
We are calling this meeting to bring ALL supporters together especially those of you who are frustrated and angry at the lack of action (and the pace of it) from within the club since our fall from The Football League.
Many of you are concerned that The Board has decided to review itself and therefore there is probably little chance of change from TOP to BOTTOM at the club which we think is needed.
The aims of the meeting are to establish what the GREATEST concerns of supporters are, what do we want to happen/change and what we are prepared to do to make it happen/change.
We have been pressing the Board to engage with supporters, but there has been little response from them. We hope many of you will come so that The Board will be made aware that we want to see ACTION and CHANGE now, which we hope will persuade them to listen to us fans.
So,
If you are curious about who and what we are, come along.
If you have something to say in support, come along.
NO Board Bashers please !
UNITED in the cause of getting Rovers back up the leagues !
Feel free to pm any thoughts and to back the meeting. Please don't just sit back and accept things !! Oh and please SPREAD the word to other Gasheads !
Mark

This is a great idea by Mark which i have already discussed with him, he's a great Gashead who cares a lot.
I think a meeting like this will help gauge fan's true thoughts on our situation in a well mannered way. It will be great to listen to peoples views and who know's may come up with a few chestnut's that will make a difference.
I would hope that lot's of fan's turn up to this meeting. The number turning up will show how concerned people really are in my opinion.

When you say who or what you are, what do you mean? Is this the ISC?

No they are a small group of NON hotheaded fans Ras. There will deliberately be no club representation. And there is no intention to undermine the Supporters Club.
The difference i see is: *The Supporters Club EGM is only open to SC members *There is still no date for Nick Higgs' Q&A meeting.
In conversation and across the various boards it is obvious that the anger and frustration about our position is festering, this is not good and left unaddressed will cause divisions in the fanbase. Hopefully this meeting will pull together the issues/concerns/ideas prior to the other two meetings, so that fan's views can be put forward.

What is the definition of board basher? How critical of them are we allowed to be before it is board bashing?
Nick Higgs went on about learning from misatkes in 2011 when we went doen to league two, and now they talk about learning from mistakes this time.
What went wrong first time round and how much faith do people have in them learning this time round.
I see BSS talks about the so called review and it looking at using the board members strengths. Why the feck doesnt that happen already?

Mark
You invite starts off saying you want a meeting to bring the fans together but then goes on to say no board bashers ? which is it, a meeting for all fans or a meeting for fans who dont want to criticise the board ?

I think the point is that we will all be there because we are angry and frustrated at the position the club is in. So that's a 'given'. There will very probably be criticism of personnel and decisions made. The main thing though is to decide how things can change. How can we turn this club around, and what are we prepared to do? I really hope there's a good attendance. A lot of thought has gone into arranging this. It's no good us all sitting round and keyboarding our dissatisfaction; we have to send a message that we cannot accept things as they are sitting down - literally!

The meeting sounds great, all the ones for the independant supporters club have been announced with about 4 hours notice. I just want some clarification from Mark about the No Board bashers comment ? I agree it needs to focus on practical steps to take and how to engage the board but excluding people who criticise the board would result in a lot of people not going.

Maybe its the intention to have the meeting *before* we decide its ALL the boards fault.

I don't want to speak for anyone else here but I assume what is meant by that comment is that they are looking for a broad spectrum of constructive criticism and ideas that addresses a myriad of shortcomings in various aspects of the club. Rather than just saying Higgs out, and smashing your glass on a face.

Of course everyone is welcome, Ras summed it up well. Criticism of everything or anyone will be welcomed. I think Mark meant he didn't want it to turn into some sort of hate campaign night. Responsible, respectful criticism is needed to move forward.
I'm going along and i would like to think many will turn up also.

I made a post on BRISA on this thread, but it's been moved for some reason. I just want to make people aware that there's a BRISA meeting happening next weekend which people are welcome to attend. It would be a shame to not have a united fanbase on this, which is why I'd encourage everyone to work together on this.
Not sure if I'm available on the 10th to come and talk, but I'm not sure if it would be wanted or not.

I also PMd you to explain.
