Stuart, I enjoyed listening to you and the other Gasheads on Radio Bristol earlier and thought you all came across very well indeed. What Holmes has suggested is something I have also heard and I really do think this Fruit Market Stadium issue is something we, as fans, should not let fade away. When I brought up the subject of Groundshare the other day of course it ruffled a few feathers. I tried to explain what I meant but too many fans seem to have set ideals which they won’t budge from and won’t even discuss rationally. My ideas may not be the right ones but surely we’ve got to have a debate about this and not take the attitude “what’s good enough for Wael is good enough for me”. We Gasheads are a pressure group and we have the power to put across opinions as you three proved with Geoff Twentyman today. I understand it’s easier to talk about the team and the manager than about the business and the finances because there’s an underlying feeling that doing that is in some way showing disrespect to the owners. But I honestly don’t think it is, I think good owners will understand that fans are passionate about the club and want to know what the future holds. So to summarize my Groundshare concept. 1. We know developers want the Mem and we know Hani and his family want to cut their losses but Wael wants to retain a stake. 2. If Wael wants to retain a stake but the Mem has to be sold to repay his family then we need somewhere to play in the short and long terms but we also need cash to fund the business 3. The best way to attract cash from outside sources would be to have a convincing plan in place and for Wael to show his commitment to that plan by reinvesting his share of the Mem sale proceeds into the club as equity. 4. So the steps are : a) Agree a provisional and conditional sale of the Mem to developers b) Agree a provisional groundshare with a suitable local club c). Commission Deloitte or other consultants to draw up a business plan for the club based on leasing the Fruit Market Stadium and using their expertise to determine the minimum lease period necessary for that plan to work d) Go to the market using reputable agents and the comprehensive business plan with the objective of obtaining an investment of circa 19 million in equity for a 76% stake based upon Wael reinvesting 4 million for a 16% stake. (8% held by others) e) With the strength of a company which will be capitalized at 23 million go to the City Council and the Fruit Market Developers and say to them “you want us in, this is what we need to come in, so let’s work together to make it happen” Problem is there is no suitable ground to share locally to hold 8,000+ fans, it's a complete non starter as I've no intention of travelling to Swindon which is probably the nearest suitable ground. We’ve been miles away from 8k this season. Not being negative, but we could use a much smaller ground for a year without much impact.

I cannot believe this thread still has legs, earlier in the week the latest Waq squeeze, Starnes, was saying the club where not going to develop the field at Almondsbury, the Stadium project was dead, for any player to come in to the club during the transfer window, current squad players would have to go, including Clarke-Harris, bottom line the club has no money, the owner wants to sell = no Fruit Market Stadium. Doh I think you've read between too many lines there, as this was not quite what was said.

The truth is that people are growing old suggesting Stadiums and who will do this and who will do that and coming up with all these ideas. Its now been 35 years of this and this latest thread of 272 pages is just another one that is filled with nonsence. Personally feel that we should just enjoy what football we are watching and where we are watching it and leave everything else to whoever happens to own us. The same people have been spouting nonsence for far too long - building up peoples hopes with a seeming knowledge of what has been happening but in fact NOTHING has actually materialized. Until something is announced by somebody who actually has the money to make it happen and we actually see the stadium starting to be built we may as well just support the team.

Toppergas, Its ok discussing Topper in vague details but certain people talk on and on about EVERY project as if a) they know things which others don't and b)they mislead supporters accordingly and have done for years! When each project goes down the drain so they fade out of site until the next project comes up. Unfortunately we are the club that spends thousands on the preparation with no fruition whatsoever. We do not have a Steve Lansdown who has the money and actually uses it to his clubs advantage and until we have somebody in charge of us who has the financial clout to make something happen then this is just 270 pages of absolute dribble which just misleads. Why not leave this until we actually have something concrete to discuss.

Would you be happy if the only security the club was offered was a 25 year lease? Hypothetical or have you heard something? 25 years isn't enough in its own right but as always the devil is in the detail. I could accept it if it had safeguards (review of tetms every 25 years, buyout clause, maximum limits on terms, minimum notification to leave). As you say the devil is in the detail but I thought it eyebrow raising considering the collapse of the UWE was supposed to be about a 125 year lease on the land but a 25 year whole stadium lease was on the table. Hopefully this is the reason for the delay and it has been rejected.

Can anybody remember the bloke who wanted to build a stadium at hicks gate Keynshsm was it Yes, it would have been sometime in the '90's, from memory. I worked with someone who was involved with ice hockey, and he knew the chap who owned ice rinks, John Nike I think. He said that he rarely failed with his planning projects, but this time nothing seems to have come of it.

Keep the faith Peter Faith is the excuse people use to believe something when they have no good reason to do so. It's attitudes like that which lost us the Empire.
