Interesting when wael are new owner went over the plans with uwe he decided it wasn’t right for the club, again new majority owner has now gone over the plans for the fruity has decided it’s not right for the club, so my question is what is right for the club?  |

I’m really getting fed up of the running of this club. Who releases a teaser video like that only for talks to break down 2 months later? Add that to the shambles of a South stand, JCH embarrassment and Wael commenting multiple times that development of the Mem is not an option. I hope to god this is some hard ball negotiation technique we’re playing as potentially time is in our side (with plans due to be submitted by March). But it won’t be, it’s over let’s be honest. Totally agree , it’s getting beyond a joke now. |

The Mayor Knows South Gloustershire council are desperate to get Rovers new stadium and don't want a major development lost to them TFL said over 2 years ago that a stadium was possible on the site but had no approach from Rovers up to that point Ah good. More bollox from you, was wondering when this would happen Time to return to your 6 fingered friends south of the river |

Wholly agree with that, Coventry springs to mind lovely stadium and everything but the only place get a pint was at the nearby Frankie & Bennys in the retail park…give me Gloucester rd anyway Isn’t that a big part of the problem? Fans demand a better stadium but prefer to line the pockets of the Glos Road pubs rather than use bars in the ground - a big gamble for the owners rebuilding The Mem as will the revenue streams be limited if fans don’t use our own facilities? What about the redeveloped Ashton Gate or redeveloped Hawthorns or anywhere else. Why’s it not a problem for other clubs to redevelop their urban based sites but it would be for us? Going to football is as much about the experience of the day not just the match and that in itself drives attendances. For me Gloucester Rd is part of the fun as it is for most of the people I go with. If we played in a bowl in the middle of Filton airfield the match day experience would be a lot diminished for lots of people. I don’t go to football to drink inflated price beer out of plastic glasses on a concrete concourse or to have to drive to it and spend an hour getting off the car park afterwards! |

Let’s just rebuild the Mem. Old school stadiums are much more “romantic” anyway. Out of town bowls are boring. You literally can't get anywhere less out of town than the Fruit Market, and that's the only one on the table at the moment (no matter how unlikely it now seems). I do agree though that we should redevelop the Mem, I know I've banged on about this before, but we should re-orientate the pitch 90 degrees, build a new east stand behind the current one then in the off season dismantle the old east stand, re-orientate the pitch, use the current west stand behind the other goal, extend the temporary south stand along what would then be the side touchline, and either extend the Thatcher's or add a temporary stand in the space up to the new East stand, giving a capacity of between 15, and 20,000 depending on how big you build, then redevelop each side as and when. I reckon that the footprint at the Mem is roughly similar to Easter Road, Hibs ground, that's a great ground, just over 20,000 capacity and the option to fill in the corners which I think would take it up to around 27,000. Sounds great but: -We are struggling to build a temporary single lift structure at the moment. -Why do we need a ground with 3x our current capacity? -The objections to this would stop it in its tracks. -It won't happen. |

Yes Whoever sanctioned the release of the teaser video in April should be sacked Honestly that video has now angered me the most 🤣🤣. Who the f**k releases a video like that if it's not a done deal. Surely they must have agreed the terms to release that. Honestly this club is an absolute joke. Poor decision after embarrassing decision. To be fair to the club when they released that exciting 4 minute video it was only minor terms yet to be agreed, like the size of the stadium, the capacity of the stadium, the area of the site it would take up, the cost of it all, how it’ll be funded and how the revenue share will work. Not much. |

Not necessarily what is right for the owner. Exactly. When Wael and co said funding was not and issue for the UWE but they didn't say where the money was coming from. If they were getting investors on board there would have to have been a decent ROI which clearly they felt couldn't be achieved with the deal that was in place. Maybe now they have got down to the nitty gritty with Conygar they have come to the same conclusion. It's all very well having a new stadium but it's not much use if there is no money to invest in the club because it's all going elsewhere. |

As for the other 3 sides, I think the local residents now know if they didn’t before Sainsbury’s were given PP, that if they make it unviable as a stadium they will have something built there far worse, that will affect their lives 24 hours a day 365 days a year, rather than the 4 hours a day 25 days a year they have now. |

I think a lot of the problem with our ground is access to it. Would it get the safety certificate if we had 20000 people going through three narrow entrances.
The only way it could be practically viable would be if rovers bought about 20 terrace houses. And that would obviously be cost prohibitive. That's before you even consider any locals objections.
We need to make the best of the mem in the short term but long term has to be a new ground.
Sure wherever we end up that will be one a good day out. There is meant to be a train station being built at the YTL arena. Access should be ok to the site.

I thought in his first interview Mr Alsaaed suggested theat he'd been involved in meetings with CI, surely before attending such meetings he would have looked at the plans/finances for the FM and decided if it was feasible or not? This now seems just a repeat of when Wael arrived, a suggestion that a new stadium was required and the UWE would be built, now we've had the Alsaaed's suggesting similar about the FM then, conveniently a month or two down the line the finances don't stack up just like they apparently didn't for the UWE. You do have to wonder how long the FM has been a non starter, as the club suddenly spending £m's on a new stand to then knock down in a few years never seemed to make any sense, when we haven't prevously built a stand for decades. Wouldn't it be good for a change if the club gave a decent statement tonight explaining to fans what was actually going on?? |

Not sure living next to a supermarket is that bad, there seems plenty of them built alongside housing estates across the country. Personally I'd have thought a low rise supermarket is better than having a massive football stand in your back garden. |
