The talks didn't break down between planners, Conygar and any other interested parties, it was just that we didn't remain at them. Once it was obvious we wouldn't have the finance to take an active part we were off This was my post on the 11th August "Sounds like Hussain has had to break the bad news to Wael that he's got two Hopes of raising the finance for the Fruit Bat Arena and one of those is Bob Hope" Oh right. You made it up then 👍 Sorry you've lost me there

Some seem to miss the point that a new stadium at UWE or the FM was to be paid for by selling the Mem site and then leasing a new stadium. Therefore if Rovers were to instead redevelop the Mem, how is it to be paid for?

Therefore if Rovers were to instead redevelop the Mem, how is it to be paid for? In the same way all the other clubs I listed a few pages back managed to redevelop. It’s only Rovers owners as always that can’t manage either to redevelop or sell, build and move.

I doubt the arena will go ahead as was planned because it is based upon over 100 very large gigs per year. There are not many artists able to attract such large attendances. There is also competition from Trashton and festivals during the summer months. There is also going to be a new 5k capacity venue next to Trashton. Could the Brabazan hangers be made into a stadium?

Roy Redman made some tentative enquiries many moons ago. Theoretically, maybe. Perhaps the arena isn't workable either and we'll look at a joint venture. 😃

I think the arena will happen, it’ll attract the same acts who usually play Manchester, Birmingham, London and miss out Bristol. The space is flexible so could accommodate much smaller acts as well. The hangers are listed so couldn’t be repurposed as a stadium however there is loads of space for development. (Although planning permission has been agreed ages ago) I think it could have been the best opportunity of all but think we’ve missed the boat on the Filton site now unfortunately.

There most definitely is. Not just Music but also Stand Up Comedians, Premier League Darts, other things like BMX, Monster Truck shows, Family shows, seminars, exhibitions, conferences. I would imagine there's adequate space to fit a stadium next to the arena.

Wholly agree with that, Coventry springs to mind lovely stadium and everything but the only place get a pint was at the nearby Frankie & Bennys in the retail park…give me Gloucester rd anyway Isn’t that a big part of the problem? Fans demand a better stadium but prefer to line the pockets of the Glos Road pubs rather than use bars in the ground - a big gamble for the owners rebuilding The Mem as will the revenue streams be limited if fans don’t use our own facilities? Agree this is a big problem. However, the club has to compete with what the local pubs are offering. Quality drinks Similar pricing of drinks (maybe cheaper due to our buying power) Ease of buying drinks, minimising queues Area for kids Places to sit Places to chat Good selection of food Shelter from bad weather I can see why people are attracted to the local pubs.

In response to Bristol Post article, imo it would be really good of the club to speak plainly about what is going on, it's the confidentiality line that annoys me the most.
Surely it would do the club no harm at all to say we have been working closely with X and have come up with X seater stadium with these facilities etc, it's benefits, the revenue streams...and maybe what it looks like.
Surely Rovers have reasons for collapse for deciding why something isn't right and an idea of what the thing they want actually looks like??...
Why is it we find out from Bristol Post or someone on the forum every time. It just leaves the impression that they possibly wouldn't say anything at all.

There’s about as much chance of us having a stadium at the YTL site as there is of me waking up next to Halle Berry tomorrow morning. 0

Sounds great but: -We are struggling to build a temporary single lift structure at the moment. -Why do we need a ground with 3x our current capacity? -The objections to this would stop it in its tracks. -It won't happen. We are struggling because we didn’t go about it right and watered people off. It will get permission it will be built. As for the other 3 sides, I think the local residents now know if they didn’t before Sainsbury’s were given PP, that if they make it unviable as a stadium they will have something built there far worse, that will affect their lives 24 hours a day 365 days a year, rather than the 4 hours a day 25 days a year they have now. I'm not sure if the pros and cons of a stadium or a sainsburys are that favourable towards a stadium tbh 🤔 Also, more people in the UK live near supermarkets and they are probably quite convenient to many. The noise. Well people also live near motorways and link roads so🤷♂️ I dont know but if Sainsbury’s wanted to build there, they'd have more chance of getting it done imo. Certainly more than our mob rebuilding a few stands to accommodate enough fans to make it all worthwhile(15k+) Let's see what the next few months bring. I'd say the South stand stricture is an indication though otherwise we'd have got another temp stand like the rugby, cricket, etc.

I would imagine there's adequate space to fit a stadium next to the arena. since the arena was first planned, there's now going to be more competition from other local venues able to host events such as the Beacon, Trashton and a new venue next to Trashton. Consider too the rising conversion costs and people having less disposable income. I wouldn't be surprised if it's abandoned once the housing has been built.

Time to return to your 6 fingered friends south of the river But have any of your multiple planning teasers from your 'friends' ever had any substance of any kind? I'm thinking 'no'. Bit like our owners then

Surely the former Filton Airfield site is the only remaining option for Rovers? Oh, I suppose there is Almondsbury, South Glos.

Good news tho eh? Develop The Mem! Haven't we been here before, one day developing the Mem is the way forward, then the next day it's a non starter as non football related activities can't generate any money? Plus where's the £20m/30m going to come from to develop the entire ground? What's the point in asking me?

Human nature is incredible, if the news is as reported a no go for the FM, naturally our thoughts turn to possible hope on the horizon, YTL arena hasn't been, to my knowledge mentioned since the FM became a so called step closer for us, we need to take a reality check, when we're down we comfort eat, so now our thoughts turn to other possible yet unlikely sites, sadly doesn't look like we will be see the maris piper band playing at half time at the FM. UTG KTF.
