Sorry I went on a bit but I don’t want the Stadium Managers job as what I was trying to convey was I have some relevant experience and I’m realistic. I no longer have the energy to do the Stadium Managers job justice. I hope I can keep going well enough for another promotion, maybe even a new stadium?
It’s not acceptance that made me write, it’s frustration. I’m frustrated that we aren’t in a new stadium but even more frustrated with the nonsense being spread about. To me it looks like the club is trying hard to improve things at The Mem as well as for the future. The statement of intent stands, why should the club comment again just because the local press publish rumours?
Truth is the club has got statements rushed out in the past and regretted them. Maybe they learnt that keeping quiet is less risky?

Yes it wasn't a very bright appointment was it. I wonder if this new guy worked for Glamorgan CC as well, these personal appointments seem to be linked to cricket connections. I do not get how the club allows such open nepotism. Truly professional CEO’s would have a thorough interview process and pick the best person for the job and not just go on the recommendation of an employee. It runs through the entire footballing side too. It really is not the best way to get the right people, in important positions

I believe David Bright was appointed as head of sales and not stadium manager. As for any new appointment being a mate of our CEO and his wife, that is as far as I am concerned a sh** stirring rumour spread by yourself, unless others can confirm your claim to be true.

Maybe they learnt that keeping quiet is less risky? Perspective is so important and yet so many people on social media/forums don't seem to have it... The club (under the various owners and over many years) have had a variety of opportunities to seal a deal - but the cost vs return is always the problem, and you don't have to look far to see examples of clubs who have made mistakes that have brought them to bankruptcy - either because of stadium deals (Darlington, Coventry, others I can't remember) or gambling on wages to get promotion - and that list is huge and chances are we will see at least one club fail in that way during this season. I like the club not reacting to every single rumour - there's no need and anyone who thinks they should clearly doesn't understand how well run businesses work - and yes, I know a football club is different to many other businesses, but the one thing they both have in common is that most of them are only one bad and expensive decision away from no longer existing....

But you make one bug mistake, Rovers are hardly a well run business.

Enough of these antics slagging off Rovers. They make me feel sluggish reading them. Best not to fly off the handle when reading such bile, as such folk always worm there way out of any discussion.

Ignoring Darlington, whose stadium was never going to be viable and was financed by a crook, are there any examples of teams who've built a new stadium but are no longer in existence? Even Coventry no longer seem to have financial issues and were just one game away from returning to the Premiership last summer. If we sit and wait for the perfect deal to turn up we'll probably never see Rovers play in a decent home stadium.

A bit like Darlington their ground was never going to be viable without the owner spending £m's each season to keep them afloat? I assume a 15K stadium for Rovers would always remain viable?

The need for a new stadium rather than redevelopment of the mem is simple.
You can't make money from 30 football games a year you need to use the site for other things and the mem is not suitable for large scale events due to its location.
All the new stadiums are used for concerts etc
Take that at AG 30,000 people paying £6.50 a pint plus food etc etc. A few large events over the summer would easily generate £1m profit and raise the profile of the stadium.
Glos Rd may have loads of pubs but a new stadium away from the area is needed for long term sustainability of the club.

It's using the stadium to maximize profits on the days when the stadium isn't used for football. I'm sure things can be done with the mem but even then it is going to be really hard to make any other money from the site without spending huge sums of money. Even then it's not an ideal location for making the most of non football activities. I think long term we have to look to a new stadium.

I see AG will host a Take That concert. Love to know how much money they will make from that. No matter how well redeveloped, I can’t see an act like that ever coming to Horfield and playing at the Mem. A new stadium is crucial.
