The south stand is either a short term (5-7 years) stop gap until we move out or A solution to piece by piece renovation of the mem over the next 5 years keeping seating and capacity to acceptable levels as stands are removed Doesnt mean either the former is dead (yet) or the redevelopment will all be in the same style. Maybe we will hear more soon! ...it does make me think it's the ideal solution as either a temporary stand before we leave the Mem, or a temporary stand because if we do stay and redevelop the Mem the pitch would be moving further East in the future (after currently being moved further North) than it currently is... ...as it's modular, the SW and the western block of the new stand could be removed without disturbing the rest of the stand so easily and rebuilt around the new corner position... ...plus if we do stay at the Mem, it will inevitably become the away end, how fancy do the people moaning about it want it to be...?

Fancy = Modern, future proof. The south/south west is an improvement on the tents no debating that, but are we seriously suggesting it is a big step forward that brings us up to par with today's standards of a club wanting to make it to Championship and stay there.

No, it's a stop gap to improve what we had and boost capacity. If we are staying, we'll need better elsewhere and eventually replace this one in time.

Some positive news at least, the club have appointed a new stadium manager this week, he's a personal friend of Gorringe and his wife.

Regardless of how temporary the temporary south stand is it won’t be cheap. …….but multiple millions? I’d have thought so! But I’m no expert. Lots of concrete, lots of demolition, lots of steel.

Maybe they're dolling it up for the women's team to move in when we waddle off down Orchard Lane.

Didn’t they have to move a whole load of wiring and prepare new groundworks? There might not have been a lot above ground to sort out but I was under the impression they had to do a fair amount below ground which is why we’re only just seeing the structure rise now.

The scoreboard I guess was a bit of money to remove but other than that there was no demolition as far as I can work out .

Once completed it will be fit for purpose. Twice the capacity of what was there before with better sightlines, more toilets, more catering, more protection from the elements. Arguably in terms of spectators watching games it will be the best stand at the ground. Yes the West Stand has the corporate boxes and facilities and changing rooms, the East stand has function rooms and broadcast facilities, but in terms of bums on seats it will be the best part of the whole stadium....

I can still see the south stand being on the side of the pitch and as its a modular design can be extended when needed. east stand knocked down next then pitch turned round and east stand rebuilt further back.

If the pitch is to be turned around we will definitely have to move elsewhere temporarily for a few years. I just don't see that happening.

Agreed - I don’t think that will happen and neither would I want it to happen.

The best option imo is the FM or another suitable site... and before last week I was thinking it was ticking long and everyone working hard behind the scenes.
If Redeveloping the Mem with shed style stands is our limit then so be it. But it is bit underwhelming, maybe my hopes are too high.

Are we aware that the Al Qadis have ever lied to us?
Then why can’t people accept what we are told as truth and stop making things up?
By all means make suggestions but please bear in mind what has been said about what is or is not viable/sustainable/affordable/whatever.
I’ve been waiting for a new stadium since before we left Eastville. Perhaps I’m more patient because I worked in construction. Starting with a London Borough, I went to a County Council, then the NHS, a National Builder, a private cost consultancy, an architects’ practice where I became Pertner, a local builders thinking to retire but then was recruited to work as a cost consultant on Listed Builings. The main thing I learnt was how much red tape there is and how slow progress can be.
If you don’t push, don’t campaign (either publicly or behind the scenes), don’t know someone who knows someone, etc. etc. things can sit forever. I’ve helped with free advice on local campaigns that have eventually succeeded, one after 26 years to reverse traffic flow on a one way street. Another lesson is things happen a lot faster if you have the money, not just the will but the will is the most important.
I think (I can’t claim to know) that our current ownership, including Wael, do have the will. They have a certain amount of money (Wael is probably hoping it’s now enough) to go with the will. Speculation about what may or may not be happening is entertaining for some but please don’t make it sound real if it isn’t.
We were told the new South and South West stands were going up as better quality and most importantly, larger, temporary seating till we have a permanent home somewhere else.
Things have gone wrong, maybe at least partly the club’s fault, maybe not? This has caused delays but the statement of intent hasn’t changed. UTG!

Yes it wasn't a very bright appointment was it. I wonder if this new guy worked for Glamorgan CC as well, these personal appointments seem to be linked to cricket connections.

We haven't seen a statement of intent since the BP broke the news that talks regarding the Fzm are near to collapsing?

More patient because worked in construction. 😆 Good sense of humour too! Is it patience or acceptance?
