I rarely ever drive into Bristol....as what i need is at Cribbs, local shops and online Just saw that the wife's car (nearly 23 year old) is private, petrol and will cost £9 My van too (21)....private and diesel. My main grip is the part of the Portway (A4) should not be included. Vans which are modern and diesel get the charge Private modern diesels generally don’t. It’s because fumes from vans damage the environment more. A 2L diesel van damages more than a 3L diesel car. I need to get this scientific information out because there are conspiracy theories knocking about that suggest the only reason they are charging vans if because they know you’re in business and therefore have some money to pay, and the scheme isn’t about money, it’s about emissions.

My Mrs has a 2.0L petrol that is 13 years old and that shows as zero charge so if it’s chucking out more emissions than that I’d suggest it’s probably for the best that it’s being discouraged from the centre. I’d guess it’s of an age with no catalytic converter for petrol / DPF for diesels, and therefore as mentioned by GulfOfAden previously, it will be putting out a lot of emissions.

Granted its a 2.2 Turbo charged monster Sport but until a few years ago it was low Road tax band

Interesting, my 44 year old 1.8 twin carb car is exempt from the charge. No MOT, no road tax, no clean air charge - go vintage!

What if your car is private, and diesel? You should have thought of the environment when you bought it Didn't the Govt encourage everyone to buy Diesel?

"The consortium planning to buy the Wholesale Fruit Centre in St Philips, Conygar Investment Co, had a period of exclusivity to negotiate a deal with the site's owners with expired yesterday (July 5). Bristol Live asked Conygar for a statement today but it said it was not yet in a position to comment on the matter.
The deal is of interest to Gasheads, of course, because it could become the club's new home with a stadium part of the developer's plans. You can read more about that here...
As soon as we receive a statement from Conygar, Bristol Live will relay that to supporters."

From what i could see on the zone map, the fruit market isnt actually inside the congestion charge zone Correct, the Dings and Totterdown bridge are currently not included. Though if thousands of cars start to use the area, I can see the CAZ being extended to help increase revenue for BCC. I know this is getting ahead of ourselves, but if the FM happens, and you may need to cross the CAZ, you can check if you will need to pay here~: vehiclecheck.drive-clean-air-zone.service.gov.uk/vehicle_checkers/enter_details

Be intresting to see if they do extend the zone once the whole area is redeveloped
