Along with heated seats in Chicago, air conditioned everything in Arizona, and everything else that makes our stuff look pathetic.

I did about 18 months/two years ago and repeated it a few times since. I’d say that is total nonsense. Never, ever, has Wael said that the Mem was up for sale for a pittance, never indicated we were so in trouble that selling it for a pittance was the only solution and has proven, quite unequivocally that he is willing to invest in the infrastructure to the benefit of the club and not it’s detriment. Perhaps the developers had a figure in mind and offered it, but it doesn’t mean we ever considered accepting it. I don’t think anyone is perpetuating a myth, it’s obvious we need a new stadium and for now, Wael has said he is dedicated to sorting one. He also promised us a training ground which he has fulfilled. Neither projects are overnight deliveries. Hes only been here for 7 years. I don’t think any of us veteran gasheads appreciated how far behind the curve we were in every department. We have had to do more than catch up, we have had to reinvent and build a new club. I have seen nothing that makes me believe Wael is prepared to have anyone else buy or part buy, as a partnership. I would also very much doubt that he would sell the mem land to be in a lease situation…again. I do not envy him his position nor the work that needs doing, i think we would not be doing all of these updates if a new stadium was on the horizon, yet but that is just my own opinion. He has been ruthless in ridding the club of being a club , helped by stalwart fans and put his own people in their positions. He certainly is no shrinking violet and has shown that he can be cold when necessary. I just feel he doesn’t wish to have anyone as a partner or outside investment. Not sure if that’s good or bad. You know much more than me Steve

Wael might appear to make cold decisions, but objectively, they are the right ones to move BRFC into the current times. We were all under the illusion that a new stadium would cure all. From a marketing and commercial point of view, we were nowhere near ready for one and had no idea what to do with one should we have had it. Getting rid of people was is always tough, as sad as it is to say it, but to modernise and move with the times and if those people can’t adapt or refuse to change or can’t embrace improvements and different ideas, then they have to be moved on, regardless of the sentimentality and service they have given. All of the above is the reason why it looks like so much wholesale change now, it should have been done years ago, but no one could see it, visualise it or even suggest a better way of doing things. Fantasying about a new stadium was what everyone hung onto as the cure. If we are honest, some of the things that have been done in the last 3 years could have been done 15 years ago, but the annual valentines dance and Xmas party was about the limit of creativity at the time. I’m pretty sure that if an investor came in, that matched Waels level of financial commitment that would open up opportunities to build a stadium then Wael would consider it. I do know there have been approaches previously, but none were given any serious consideration as there was nothing concrete past the LOI or POF stage. And to be honest, I wouldn’t waste my time without those either.

As i said, i really do not envy him his role, bankrolling a club with yearly losses and trying to improve it but in a place not fit for purpose. I will not compare him to any of our previous owners/chairmen as it’s been a total rebuild of infrastructure. As a lifelong rovers supporter i always hope for a new stadium, as i always have since leaving the old girl, Eastville

The more stupid stuff like going cashless AND cardless is hotly debated, the less likely the club are likely to be asked any difficult questions regarding progress for any new stadium or alternative plan, with the current ground now being it's least fit for purpose ever. We really are mugs 😂 Thought they'd been asked several times regarding new Stadium? Doubt if cashless and cardless will stop that question being put to them. Not sure how any of that makes us mugs? How were they answered? We really are.

And to be honest, I wouldn’t waste my time without those either. 1981, a reasoned and literate argument as ever and I agree with some of that but there’s a large amount of very selective stuff from the POV which leaves WAQ with a huge way out of his responsibilities. 1. Your assertion that we weren’t ready for a new stadium from a marketing and commercial pov really is silly. Had the stadium been built at any time the then-owners would have had to move fast to catch up but they would have I’m sure. Yes, the rapid appointment of staff to deal with it would be needed. But they would have had time because whatever stadium that comes will not come quickly, a 2/3 year lead in so plenty of time to sort some of that stuff out. To suggest that only WAQ could do this is hugely disrespectful to others and is also probably wrong given the track record over the past 6 years. And to suggest WAQ has all the answers when the capacity problems at the moment and ‘tent-international at the Mem’ show me that all he’s doing is papering over the cracks. For clarity I’m hopeful that in time he will be able to source a ground and this is not a dig at him but to think that only he could do that is quite frankly, delusional. 2. ‘Modernise and move with the times....’ I agree with that completely and with your subsequent comments but we had so many false starts under the AQs that I was never sure that WAQ knew his own mind. Hamer, Starnes and now TG. I like TG and he gives me more confidence that he has his finger on the pulse of the club far more efficiently than those before had. But to say it’s taken 6 years to modernise and move with the times is poor. It tells me that for most of that time compromises have been made and we are no closer to our new stadium than the day in February 2016 when Wael beamed at me from a TV and said that financing a new stadium would not be a problem. 3. ‘Fantasising about a new stadium was what everyone hung onto as a cure.’ Too right they did because all owners, including Wael in his very first week sold the same fantasy! I love the Mem but I also accept that for us to grow and realise our potential we have to move or develop the Mem and since Wael has refused to develop the Mem the new location seems the only option. Since Wael started as our owner the capacity of the Mem has gone from 12,500 in May 16 to somewhere around 10,500 (?) down to 9,500 at the start of this season and even lower over the past week. I may be slightly wrong over the numbers but as no one from the club has given a definitive figure for the capacity I don’t think I’m far wrong. Please 1981, I’m not having a go at you but tbh although I love much of what Wael has done for us, his record regarding our new ground is woeful to date. You put a very reasonable and cogent argument together supporting him but after 6 years I’m afraid it comes over as a list of excuses, put together very well I grant you, but excuses nonetheless. But at least I know now that no-one would have known what to do with a new ground anyway and that we have to be a ‘modern and moving with the times’ football club before we deserve a new stadium and finally I’ve been fantasising since the 70s to think BRFC deserve a new stadium. Talk about being put in my place!! Shame on you. UTG!

Not that long ago when THE Question was put the reply was something like 'Can't discuss it due to a confidentiality agreement'. Never did say who that was with or what the details were.Guess it no longer is on going though as no-one has repeated the dreaded,'Can't give you details due to a confidentiality agreement' line for a while. Perhaps the answer hasn't been given due to the local press not asking the question recently, perhaps because they know the real truth about the FM? I don't get why you're so negative about Wael, if you don't like the way he's running Rovers why don't you support a team closer to your home, as I doubt we'll ever get a better owner than Wael, even if he his taking his time delivering a new stadium, as who else is going to be prepared to write off £2m/£3m a season on a lower league club.

Well to be fair we needed a stadium, and he bought a club with planing permission to build one! But this has been done to death already - the deal with the UWE was not commercially suitable after Wael reviewed it in detail and neither party were prepared to budge from their red line positions, hence it was terminated. Just because we had planning permission doesn’t mean that the inherited deal was right for the club. I don’t know the detail and whether it was or wasn’t but based upon what I’ve seen from Wael infrastructure and financing wise, then I trust his judgment…

The mention of RAF Laarbruch brings back happy memories of a CCF summer camp in the early 80’s and only just managing to get back past the sentries after a delightful evening consuming copious amounts of apfelkorn in Weeze whilst distinctly underage. Unfortunately they wouldn’t let us play with the Tornadoes or Jaguars so they packed us off to the Philip’s museum in Eindhoven and to see the bridges in Nijmegen and Arnhem. Happy days. 🍺😊👍

Agree about the Emirates stadium and London Stadium but I quite liked the new Spurs stadium. It was NFL not football that I saw there but I was impressed by the unique design of the seats, the overall quality and feel of the stadium and the concourse facilities. I suspect in 202-whenever we finally break ground on our new stadium the best we can hope for is something as interesting and different as New White Hart Lane, albeit on a much smaller scale.... I find the most amazing thing about the Spurs stadium is that the pitch can be moved under the stands at the touch of a button in three pieces. The stadium can then be used for concerts/ other events. It's a true feat of engineering, there have been plenty of sliding pitches but this one had to avoid the two huge pillars that support the top of the south stand which is why it has to split into three parts. It also sits in part of the car park so the space is used one way or another. My point about the stadium though was that it's not a 'standard' bowl, this stand is immense and almost unique in a from scratch newly built stadium and I hope Rovers eventually by 2050 get something similar that makes the stadium stand out from the rest....
