I don’t like the FM location much, I’m sure my view would be different if I lived a 10 minute walk from it though! Anyway, I don’t think we should worry about it too much at the moment!!

Here’s a thought. Maybe Wael has already done a deal with YTL, to use the Brabazon or the other one of the three venues for us to play at. I am sure at some point the Millennium Stadium used to put pallets of grass down for games then take it back up again for other events like Boxing, shows, corporate stuff. I might be wrong. I only thought this when the local news in the week said that the Railway station has been delayed until 2026 rather than next year. Perhaps it’s done, just waiting for it to be built?

The ONLY thing that stops me totally giving up hope on the Fruit Market is that Wael has not said it is dead. I like to think he wouldn't just sweep it under the carpet and say nothing, but instead would issue a statement. (Tried hard, negotiations not productive, not in the best interests of the club, couldn't get FM owners to sell.....etc etc). I refuse to believe it's gone and Wael just hasn't told the fans. Unless that actually turns out to be the truth. Or, it may be dead . However ,work is well under way on a different site . Rather than disapoint fans with a "fruit market=no" he may keep quiet until the new site gets a green tick. He can then just announce Rovers have secured a deal for a stadium at location x , planning will be going in shortly. A deal couldnt be established at the FM site so we moved on to this site which we feel is a better location...

The latest update if memory serves me was that Conygar Investment extended the exclusivity agreement to acquire the site until June 2022. That date has now passed. I don’t know if that means its not happening, but sadly I’m not hopeful.

All that land at Filton, SGC would help us I reckon with other sites, need to win the Euro millions then I'll build it 😂🏴☠️⚽️

Does anyone actually think we’ll get any sort of official update from the club anytime soon? How long has it been now since Wael briefly mentioned the FM site? I seem to remember it was against Blackpool and , i think, around 3-4 season ago

How about if we hear nothing from the club regarding a new stadium by january 1st 2023 then we should all come to the conclusion the Fruit market or any other site is not happening at all. There is no new stadium. Then all focus and pressure the club to upgrade the mem as no new stadium is happening. That won’t happen as we have had people try to start such things but then people do not actually back it. I am ashamed to say i am one of those people. It’s easy to have the intent to do something but the reality is somewhat different

You could have thought the same in the 50's when we sold Eestville, the problem is what happens when the lease comes up for review and the lease holders then decide that can get far more for the land than we can afford? Coventry City's the preferred bidders for their ground is apparently Mike Ashley and it's anybody's guess what he has planned for the stadium, whatever he has planned they have zero control over it.

If we were going to be funding the lions share of the build costs by selling the Mem we clearly would not do so if it was gong to be a 5 or 10 year lease which would leave us up sh** creek in no time at all. I’d expect a 100 year lease minimum.

It’s more likely that fairies will be doing the funding and not the sale of the Mem. I don’t know why I jumped to such an absurd assumption. Apologies.
