Joey will probably be visiting Bristol to see the "new" stadium clutching a Zimmer frame, amongst the numerous flying cars!

Joe constantly talks about getting Rovers to the championship. Which suggests he will be backed (within reason) to get a squad to achieve that. He also talks about wanting to manage prem and beyond. Though doesnt attach that to Rovers. So no stadium means joe getting to the championship then moving on pretty quickly. Stadium means Joe likely to stay at least a few seasons at Rovers in the champ. So is Joe in a hurry for success at Rovers so he can move on quicker or because he knows a stadium is on its way ? Any stadium is going to take at least 3 years which is more than a typical managerial tenure. We can get into the Championship as we are but we won't sustain our stay without a new ground of some description. We'll likely be back down within a season or two, probably even if its in build. JB is unlikely to see a new ground as our manager although it isn't a forgone conclusion and as a sign of intent, it's pretty big. I think he is aware of plans and kept abreast of developments so any comments and hints won't be without foundation (see what I did there 👀). Getting us into the play offs this year or next would give him a great boost in his profile, making him a target for several teams. I do have the impression we are more than just a stepping stone to the next job for him, over to you Wael. 🤞

Agree with Stuart. He’s constantly talking about getting us to the prem before City.
It’s madness to try and do that without solid stadium plans.
I’m encouraged by Joeys talk and take it as a sign that serious steps are in place to improve our facilities in some shape or form in the not too distant future.

Based on his view of his self belief to succeed as a manager. So going out on a limb....im expecting a stadium plan to be revealed this year.

Going by the 3 year rule that a Ground has to be of a certain standard, then 2 promtions on the bounce to get us into the Prem means we'd better have something in place pretty quick.

Not wanting to flog this ad infinitum but I will do anyway. Regardless of our plans for any new stadium why can't we do something with the east stand. Surely doing something like what Blackpool have on one side of the ground (the temporary looking thing) could be done and surely wouldn't be too expensive
Being realistic if a new stadium was announced today we are at least 5 years away from moving in and if it fell through at any point at least we have done something to improve our facilities. I think we will need a stadium of at least 12K if we were to get in the championship. Putting a stand on the east side of the mem could achieve that.

Easy to spend someone else’s money, especially when it’s already costing our owner millions propping up our annual losses. If the east stand revamp isn’t too expensive the fans can pay for it via a bucket collection.

Would you knock half your house down 12 months before selling it, knowing that you’d get no more for it than if you kept it exactly as it is?

I still find it strange that we're still even talking about this when it's been apparent for a couple of years there's no interest from any developers in purchasing the Memorial Stadium site. I thought the proposed deal was, developers build stadium at fruit market, Memorial Stadium is transferred into their ownership for them to develop and recover some of their costs and we lease and move into new stadium at the fruit market. The developers gain from additional planning on the St Phillips site in return with agreement from BCC who are keen to have the stadium built there.

One of the things the planners made clear back in 2007 when planning was granted to redevelop The Mem was that they did not want a piecemeal development and that once development had commenced it could only be fully occupied once the stadium had been fully completed. They had seen what had happened in other cities and didn't want a similar carbuncle in Bristol. Remember The Vetch?

I'll stop you at "developers build stadium at fruit market". That's never going to happen.

Personally I would prefer to see the Mem redeveloped. 15-20k capacity would be perfect for this club and would be perfect for Championship football.

Something basic can't cost more than £5M surely (or should I say 1 Collins in new currency 😂). It's about improving our facilities above what is a tip of a stadium. So many times we have had pie in the sky ideas and even seemingly more concrete ones that fail and we are always left in the same position.

I get your point and if we had concrete plans to move into a new stadium and everything was signed and sealed then yes I would agree. However as I see it we don't have any plans and I bet we will still be in the same position in 20, 30 ,40 years and nothing will have been done.

Chap came into the Charity shop in Sidmouth today where my wife and I are volunteers.Keen Exeter fan and clearly enjoyed their recent victory at our place. 'Love the Mem' he said and clearly meant it.I informed him that I had met very few people who share his enthusiasm but he added,'Proper Old School'. He then wrote something nice in our visitors book about Gas fans being so friendly but don't suppose any non footballing people will have a clue what he meant .
