Form these comments in the latest BCC documents regarding the St Phillips Marsh proposed redevelopment it sounds like the FM is no longer being considered for a stadium: "Scenario 2 identifies land associated with the Bristol Fruit Market site as an opportunity for a large scale, mixed-use leisure destination. This could potentially include reconfiguration of the market to create a more visitor focused attraction including fresh food / street food markets, entertainment and education." The other scenarios shown also make no mention of a stadium on the FM site. As Pirate suggested it's time Wael told us what's going on, assuming he whether returns to the UK. The biggest uses for a stadium would be to attract visitors, provide entertainment, have street food like we have at the mem currently and act as a place for education. So from those comments I’d say that the site is being considered for something like a sports arena. So although the biggest development on the site is going to be a stadium BCC have chosen to only highlighted a food market as an attraction, where's the logic in that? There are thousands of words in the documents and I can't find "stadium" is mentioned anywhere.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume that “sporting facility”, means that a stadium would be an acceptable use.

Good point but if the sporting facility is a stadium then why aren't BCC not telling people what they are proposing for the site?

Good point but if the sporting facility is a stadium then why aren't BCC not telling people what they are proposing for the site? They aren't going to jump the gun, so to speak, while things remain unresolved. By keeping it vague they provide wriggle room for changes. I can't see any announcements being made via an online consultation document.

On the last document they produced, which somebody posted a link to only recently, it clearly stated "proposed stadium" for the FM site.

Has anyone heard anything about WAQ wanting out ? Was reading a post on OTIB that mentioned it and with any malice as he was talking about the sale of city. I don't think I saw picture of Wael without a Rovers top on whilst he was in Qatar, didn't give the impression he wants out.

I don't think Wael wants out. I do think he loves our club. I don't think there will be a Fruit Market stadium. I do think he's looking for outside investment. I don't think he can manage the challenge without help. I do think he has the best interests of the club at heart.
That's what I do and don't think.

It’s seems we are again at a cross road. We’re almost hitting the ceilings again, but won’t be able to burst through the lofty heights.if we don’t change our space.
I like to think wael has a plan, but why (under every ownership)do we only ever get fed bollox when the clubs on a downward spiral, only ever hear anything just to keep our hopes and buy season tickets?
I’m often wrong but……. Do I have a point?

I do feel that at some point the club will need to show their hand. Is there actually anything going on "behind the scenes", they have been working hard for very long time.
I was listening to the radio on my drive home, a pundit was taking the p!ss out of Oxfords ground, Corners not being filled in and one end being a car park...I thought to myself, christ what on earth would they make of The Mem that is completely ramshackled.
We need to get out of The Mem fast.

Yep but difference is they have a bigger stadium and just got planning to redevelop the Kop end giving them another 7-10k capacity I was thinking more towards the overall effect Mcelhenney and Reynolds have had on the club and community, pretty sure I read somewhere that the Mem footprint is the same of Goodison Park. If we could have additional investment to make it happen I still think that Mem design we had with Opal (below) was the way forward, yes its a limited design, always thought given the density of Horfield and location a hotel would be very well utilised, not to mention match day weekend deals but cricket matches stay over for summer county and internationals. Conference facilities, anyway de ja vu is back! As for that lot at the Racecourse, they are driven, have a plan and created a much greater audience for the club, albeit those who call it saccer. Really enjoyed watching the documentary on them, more so the fans and what Wrexham means to them and how it affects lives and families, no different to us and our stories of course. Would love to see a documentary about Gasheads lives at the Mem and at home telling their stories, what brings us all together. The recent interview with Adam Tutton and Maggsy was something I would imagine most Gasheads would enjoy watching and other things like it. It gives the fans a chance to feel more of a connection to the club, if they cant get to the Mem for whatever reason. Similarly, for fans who attend games they get a closer understanding of how the football club is run. Babbling dream talk over View Attachment Living just outside of Wrexham it's been fascinating to see the impact,Ryan Reynolds in particular is a great people person,he visits loads of community places in Wrexham ,a very approachable guy The series has apparently given Disney £425k profit per episode so it's been a win win.

Babbling dream talk over View Attachment I do like that design, compact very Loftus Road-esque If I remember correctly the capacity would of been 18k, which would be great for now, but again if I remember correctly there was no room for expansion, so if we did ever get to The Premier League we wouldn't be able to increase capacity. Most new builds now all have planned room for expansion. Brightons a perfect example when The Amex Stadium was built the capacity was the same as what was planned for the UWE Stadium. They've now expanded it to 32k. That's what we should be looking to do. If it was possible to revamp The Mem to a 30k+ stadium, then brilliant. It just wont be possible.

An 18k stadium would do us just fine now and forever in my opinion. The other lot have had the facilities and financial backing for years now and are further away from the Premiership than ever. We could very easily be a championship club and build regular gates up to 15-18k with a few successful seasons in a decent stadium. Anything beyond that is likely to be temporary at best! I'm sure that there are some on here who think this is lack of ambition but if we're waiting for the opportunity to build a 30k stadium we might as well admit that it's nothing more than fantasy.

There are some occasions in the near future you might want to put in your calendar/diary.
Bristol City Council have some Temple Quarter consultation meetings arranged.
In-person events
We're also planning in-person events where you can pop in to find out more, complete a survey or speak to a member of the team. We'll be adding to this list of dates, times and locations over the coming weeks:
16 January, 10-12pm, Temple Quay (next to the bike racks) 26 January, 2pm-5.30pm, Redcliffe Hill (inside or outside Redcliffe Hub depending on the weather) 11 February, 11-2pm, Dings Park 22 February, 3-6pm, Totterdown Tesco (33 Oxford Street, Totterdown, Bristol BS3 4RJ) 23 February, 12-3pm, Temple Quay (next to the bike racks) 27 February, 10-12pm, Temple Quay (next to the bike racks)

If there's no FM stadium where does that leave the club if there's also no alternative site and the Mem redevelopment is a non starter? What's outside investment going to bring if there's no prospects of a new stadium being built?

We wouldn't be building a 30k stadium. A 20,000 all seater but with scope to expand it to 30k+ if needed. Could expand it within 3 years if you get to the Premier League and stay there like Brighton have done. Or it could stay 20k for 10,15,20 years if you don't really improve like MK Dons.
