At long last this thread can be closed, at tonight's AGM Wael when asked the question from the floor announced a new stadium wouldn't happen for at least another 5 or 7 years but didn't mention even if it were to happen the Fruit Market. You were sacked In November 2019, Steve. Aren’t you bored of this yet?

Wael has been stringing us along on the stadium hunt for too long. It's time Barton, the only man who tells it as it is was asked the question. It would be interesting to hear Joeys response to the question of promotion and the fact we would only be allowed to stay there 3 years maximum due to our facilities, with our owner saying were looking at 7 years for an upgrade. Bearing in mind over 3 years ago now he said we are looking at stadium locations including the fruit market so that 7 years will probably be about 12 if at all. Pathetic. We only have one person's post from the AGM, no context or such. He is also a critic of Wael so watch out for bias. It's already been challenged as wrong. The 5 year period actually ties in with what many on here are thinking is the minimum realistic timescale anyway, so no surprises there. With regards to the Championship, we would have 3 years then need to update what we have, so realistically reduced gates. There is also an extension available if things are in progress. That said we'd probably be outfinanced in that time and get relegated anyway. Whilst I'm as impatient any anyone and would love an official announcement, don't get the pitchforks out just yet.

I'm of the opinion that Wael might not be able to do it by himself. Otherwise it would have happened already. He has done great bringing us forward re the training ground and how the club is run with TG. But we MUST sort the stadium out. I don't think he'll do it on his own either, but I'd imagine with his network he'd have no problem finding investors. The problem is permission and where to build the damned thing. Possibly the other way round, site and permission a formality (in the grand scheme of things, still a lot to do) but he needs investors. What better advertisement than knocking on the door of the Championship or even better, 30,000+ cheering on promotion at Wembley?? Should stop eating cheese late at night.😃

We have a local council (south Glos) who are able and willing to help Rovers in their quest for a Stadium Complex, so whats stopping Wael ? Location maybe

and round and round we go. We are pretty much at the ceiling of what we can achieve at our current stadium. Looks like we have a decent manager who has built a competitive team but to progress any further we need infrastructure investment. I am just perplexed how a family with banking connections are unable to figure out finance for a build.
Just a side note my 6 year old boys team have just got £500K grant from the FA to build a 3G pitch and council funding to build a swanky new club house and facilities. Why can't we access some funding like this to improve the mem.
If the stadium is in the 2030-2035 timescale at least then please lets get a decent stand built at the mem. I struggle to think of a ground worse than ours even in the Vanarama. People worry about the sustainability and costs but doing nothing will eventually lead to the demise of the club anyway. It's time for action. Lets hope I win the euro millions.

Think the Supporter's Club paid for a lot of early enhancements when we initially moved from Twerton.Ah well ,said it all so many times before but the response from those that matter isn't forthcoming but one new stand at least would be nice.Even a temporary one at the South End we could sell on when the time comes would be nice.Honiton and Axminster nice improved grounds with grants etc helping out.Maybe their ambition is greater.

If a new stadium was a stand alone construction that quickly sailed through planning . You might expect a 3 year time scale till first kickoff on the pitch.
The FM site (if this is actually our number one choice). Is tied into a whole area being rebuilt. So other builds and infrastructure will play a big part on the timescale. Looking at the totterdown bridge area today you can only imagine its not going to be completed before 2030.
With the WEF and many groups pushing for very restricted car use (even electric) and the 15 minute city plans. Most fans will not be able to drive to a future stadium anyway. Therefore an out of town stadium might be a bad idea as opposed to one central and near a railway station.
As for the silence. I suspect Wael is all to aware of the many false dawns and let downs the fans have had for half a century. He will not announce anything until it is 100% going to happen.

Being reported on the other forum that at the AGM Chris Gibson (non executive director) asked a shareholder to leave because Wael didn't want him there. Wonder what that's all about, if true?

I just want to know there will be a rovers for future generations and not always the underdog rovers

Can they do that? The rules state the Gibson should not be able to do so due to his position of lack of, in the scheme. If the person wanted then he could challenge it, in court but i doubt that would happen. Some very odd things happening and not happening

Bill Dodgin was Gas manager then followed by Don Megson in 1972.Asked at Axminster if we could have a blue plaque to commemorate your appearance in the Cup Final and as you live in Dorset ,seems it won't be allowed.Nice set up with the new changing rooms, clubhouse,Floodlights etc. Attachments:
